Platinum Member Username: GlasswolfPost Number: 13582 Registered: Dec-03 | Lacking a transformer in the head unit, to achieve the power required to drive a pair of speakers at 4 ohms, the amplification circuit in the head unit already works in a push-pull design, like having a bridged amp. Therefor, you can't run a pair of speakers in parallel on one channel. The load will be too low and you will damage the head unit. One way to do this is to run an amplifier with high level inputs that get signal from the front pair of speaker wires, then use the amp to drive the rear two speakers you are adding. Another method would be by using a device like the AudioControl LC7 or JL Audio Cleansweep as a line level converter (LOC) which will take the speaker level signal from the Becker radio, and convert to a number of RCA output channels capable of sending signal to amplifiers to run both front and back speakers, as well as a subwoofer, with power wiring for the amplifier(s) run from the battery of the car. |
