As for rear fill, read this and you decide: http://www.glasswolf.net/papers/rearfill.html take the sub out of the package shelf and put it into an enclosure, or nix it altogether and get a larger sub with a sub amplifier. bridge the PPI 4 channel for the front speakers and lose the rear fill, or keep it for front/rear, whichever. It's a fine amp. |

Platinum Member Username: GlasswolfColumbia, SC USA Post Number: 13195 Registered: Dec-03 | you can use midbass drivers if you want, but that factory 8" in back probably isn't a midbass driver at all. It's most likely a sub mounted in an IB setup. A good set of components in front should roll off to the IDQ 12" without a real need for any midbass drivers. set the HPF on the amp for the components @ 100Hz, 12dB slope Set the sub amp to 50-60Hz, 18dB slope. The gap will be filled by the Q factor of the two crossovers (HPF and LPF) A midbass driver is specifically designed for midbass (not a sub) and requires a bandpass filter set around 80Hz HPF and 250-500Hz LPF. These are typically mounted in the front of the car, as they will catch a fair portion of the vocal range and require some directionality, and will be used in a 3-way component setup. Keep things simple. head unit with F/R/S pre-outs no rear speakers. 2-way comps in front with 2 channel amp (or 4 channel amp bridged) sub(s) with mono amp in back with the sub in a sealed or ported box. that's all you need for a good, clean system. |

Platinum Member Username: GlasswolfColumbia, SC USA Post Number: 13216 Registered: Dec-03 | why do you want an EQ? What do you want it to do for you? There are a number of types of EQs, and they don't all really do the same thing. |
