I am only looking to replace my two front door speakers on a 2002 Toyota Sienna. I have not removed them, but from looking online it seems that they are JBL 6.5", 2.2 ohm and 30 Watt.
I have not done anything like this before, so I am wondering if anyone knows if the following speakers would work: JBL GTO628 6-½" 2-way Car Speakers, Grand Touring Series, Peak: 360 watts per pair / 180 watts each, RMS: 120 watts per pair / 60 watts each, Plus One cone material, Mylar/titanium dome tweeters, 2 ohms.The only difference seems to be that they are 180 watt. Not sure if that would be a problem or not. Any help would be appreciated.}
if you're keeping your head unit, look up the specs on it. Find the RMS per channel output of the internal amp and try to match the speakers to that. Most factory head units will only put out 5-15W RMS @ 4ohms. If you try to power speakers that are rated 60 watts each, they will be underpowered and you won't be happy with them. Try to match up your speakers to the head unit output as much as possible. For example, if your head unit puts out 18 watts RMS per channel @ 4ohm , then look for speaker that are around 15-30 watts RMS @ 4ohm. If your head unit is stable down to 2 ohms, then look for 2 ohm speakers to take advantage of all of the power. If your HU puts out 18 watts at 2 ohm, and you hook up 4 ohm speakers, they'll most likely only be getting 9 watts.
