to make a long story short, my dad had to drive my car for 4 days, and during that time period his stupid fiddling with the cd player i think he blew out the speakers, when i had the volume set at 0 so he wouldnt have to bother with it, when i used my car after he was done it woudlnt start, it needed new sparkplugs, the cd player was set to volume 62 instead of the normal 22-24, and the cd player was on and nothing was coming out of the speakers. the previous owners put in custom speakers, subwoofers, whatever else audiowise is in a car, i dont know much about it myself.
im taking it to a car audio/accesories shop tomorrow to have them look at it and we can see for sure what the problem is, i think the subwoofer in my trunk works still because the only thing i hear when i try to play a cd is like bass rumbling. i dont even really know how many speakers are in use in this car, theres like 2 mounted on the back 'bank' above the seats, and i think 'tweeters' in the front, i dunno if the standard car speakers were even in use or not.
so anyway assuming my dad ruined the speakers & they need to be replaced, does anyone have a suggestion for replacements, something around mid to upper mid price range i guess, im not talking like $1k per speaker. and along with the suggestions if u could put a general price for them that would be helpful. thanks!!
There must be an issue with wiring or the head unit. Even if the speakers were blown they would still work, just sound like crap. Beware of audio shops. They're knowledgable but they're also looking to sell you stuff and make money. Before you buy anything look the same items up online and compare prices. If you do need speakers though, they don't cost a whole lot for a decent set. If you're not running an amp to them, you really won't be spending much at all for some.
well the place couldnt tell if it was the speakers or the amps so theyll be looking into that, i hear nothing from the speakers so maybe they arent blown and its the amp or amps, i guess there are 2 amps in my trunk, along with a set of speakers that i completely forgot were in there, i never use or open my trunk. maybe one amp is broke, i think theyre like 10 yrs old now or so, the person said there are amps now that can do things in place of 2, so u only need one, is that a good idea or is that like a cheap way of doing things that makes things sound worse. or is it just fine. i dont want this dumb experience to make the audio in my car sound worse than before. the guy there was saying like a 2 in 1 amp cost like $350 bucks.
well i guess we're taking it to best buy on sunday cause its a little cheaper to have them look at it, the person said there a good amp is over $1k! i sincerely hope its not an amp problem then, i dunno if my amps are $1k or what, but if they need to be replaced we arent spending that much so this sound system is gonna suffer. hopefully its just like a short or some probably im not thinking of, ah what a pain.
the problem turned out to be that just a plug from an amp to a speaker had come unplugged, or something like that, so all they had to do was plug it back in and it was fine, thank God.
