sometimes it does matter for motor strength though....just look at soundsplinters website and fi's website...youll see a difference in the listed motor strength

find some subs that you'd be interested in and check out the t/s specs. look for bl and fs. it all depends on the application, your amp, how many subs, etc. and just because the t/s are slightly different, in most cases, I'm sure you wont notice an audible difference.

you would have to compare their stats to know for sure but you also want to make sure the subs can be wired to a final ohm load that you need to get the most power from your amp

two 4 ohm dual voice coil subs can be wired to 1 ohm or 4 ohms
two 2 ohm dual voice coil subs can be wired to .5 ohms or 2 ohms

well all type Rs are DVC

so 1 set of pos and neg is out of the question on the type R

why does it matter anyways?

i have a question. lets say you buy 2 subs and the sub is only made in dvc 4 ohm, but you only want to run it at 2 ohms instead of 1 ohm. can you just wire each sub individually in parallel to get a final load of 2 ohms? like you have a single box for both subs but you just wire each one to its own terminal and hook it up to an amp like the jbl gto 15001. since that amp has 4 inputs. the reason for doing that is 1 the subs can only be bought in dvc 4 ohm not dvc 2 ohm. and 2 that amp wont work in 1 ohm but only 2 at the least. that would work right?
and another question, what happens if you have 2 alike subs like rockford fosgate t1's but one is a dvc 4 ohm and the other is a dvc 2 ohm. what would be the wiring options? Thats something i have been wondering for a long time now
