I would like to tune to the lowest hertz possible. The sub is an Rockford Fosgate P3 in its original box. Silver Member Username: SkdooleyRoanoke, VA Usa Post Number: 316 Registered: Oct-09 | If you want to get the most out of that woofer, either build your own custom enclosure or have someone with experince build one for you. There are a few good guys on this forum who can. What makes a box a certain frequency is the everything about the port. The height, width and length is what tunes it. It is the force of the air coming through a given port that gives you the tuning. Your sub will perorm best at a specific port tuning, at what exact one I'm not sure. If you want deeper lows, I'd say around 32 Hz, if you want the sub to be loud, maybe around 35 - 36 Hz. Someone else can probably suggest a good frequency to go at. |

Gold Member Username: TejcurrentPost Number: 2152 Registered: Apr-07 | If you take the grill things off of the port, and cut more port the same size and bolt it to the front. Any additional wood inside would reduce the volume, giving you even more problems. Don't do that. The box is only 5/8" mdf, I'd just build a new one. To lower the tuning you have to make the port longer, which just isn't realistic. |

I got these results: 15.125" x 19.125" x 16.375" / 1728 = 2.7411600748697... Does this mean that the box is 2.7 cu. ft. (minus the area displacement of the port and the thickness of the wood)? If this is true, then if you build me a box that is 1.75 cu. ft. it would be much smaller? |

Gold Member Username: MendonmafiaUSA Post Number: 1989 Registered: Aug-06 | subtract wood thickness and port and sub displacement and then you have volume. its probably right around 2 cubes net. no offence but you need to make sure you take the largest (od) dimensiond when accounting for the port displacement. sub displacement is prob .1 or less |
