New member Username: DivinekaosPost Number: 1 Registered: Dec-09 | Hey all, Upgrading my sound system, here is what I have so far; Head Unit - Alpine IDA-X305 Inline Amp - Alpine KTP-445 (RMS 45Wx4) Front Spk - 2x Clarion SRC4696 (RMS 30W) Rear Spk - 2x Clarion SRQ6930R (RMS 80W) Subs - 2x Rockford Fosgate P1 (RMS 150W) OR 1x 12" Infinity Reference 1230w (RMS 300W) Amp - Infinity Reference 611a (RMS @ 4Ω 456 W x 1) - So, my first question/concern is- the inline amp outputs higher than my front speakers..is this a concern since they can handle 150w peak? Or should I splice the harness so they just get powered by the deck (Which RMS 18W)? I would like to avoid this, since it will void my warranty. Should I employ bass blockers? - Second, I have two choices of subs. The RFs are in a box which will already fit in the back of my YJ, where the Infinity would need to be modified as the box is too big. Which would sound better? I am waiting on my wiring kits for the sub/amp to arrive before starting my install. Everything else is in hand. How do you guys thinks this setup will work? I have never done more than the infinity sub/amp setup before. The deck looks sweet, and getting those Rockfords already in a box for $75 was too sweet to pass up. If I go with the RFs, they will probably be downward firing. I like to listen to my music loud, but not to the point it is distorted. Just want to avoid blowing anything up . Any suggestions/comments? Thanks! |

Thanks for actually giving us the information needed to answer your question...lol Personally I'd give it a try with the power pack connected to all speakers. Your not too far off on the RMS rating and you can probably control the crossovers from the head unit, so no need for bass blockers...I've used these before and found them useless in my opinion...Just make sure to test the fronts, if your not happy try them on the HU. As far as subs I've had BAD experiences with Infinity...but that's me...2 subs went bad within a 1 week period...after a 40 hour break in...and one coaxial set bad within a week...Also not a big fan of RF but the stuff I've had from them has been more robust than Infinity, I just didn't care for the SQ...Again these are only my personal opinions and experiences... Good luck with the build!! Sounds like you've got a good start! |

I'm thinking I may try and find a decent set of speakers that are rated properly...haven't trouble finding anything around me that is rated at 45w+ any suggestions? |

As an alternative you could go with the Alpine SPS-406 which will handle 45 watts RMS. There are other options too, Infinity makes one that would handle the power output you need...trying to stick with brands you seem to like...Well I hope that helps |
