Poor signal quality!!

Hi everyone:
I finally was able to get a maximum of 40% quality on my cw600 receiver from galaxy 19(97.0 W) I downloaded all the channels into the receiver, and most of them worked for a while. Then they all went scrambled except for Al-jazeera English Channel. I tried to adjust the skew and focus on the LNB to get a better quality, but without any success. In addition, I tried to move the dish up and down and right and left to improve quality, but also without any success as any slight movement of the dish would result in the reduction of quality to 0%. How can I improve the quality to get to watch the channels on my TV. Will a signal amplifier help?? or are there any other suggestions to solve this problem? Please note that the dish view is very clear with no apparent obstructions.

It's possible your lnb is faulty. Do you have good signal quality on any other birds?

Thank you for responding. I really haven't tried other birds. Any other suggestion before replacing the LNB??

I wouldn't replace the lnb until I tried to get a signal on a different satellite. JMO

You could also check your coax and connectors to make sure there isn't a problem there...

Also, some channels on 97w will be scrambled..

..not every TP on that sat will give you good quality.

When you adjust the dish and get 40% what TP are you using?

On 97w with 30" dish my quality level ranges from 82% to 28%.

Even the 28% is watchable with no break-ups, - (cw600s)

Yaser, don't forget about weather.

If you are at 40% sometimes cloudy weather can make a difference, but I would check my connections, terminate unused connections, and check your desq switch.

I am getting 40% quality on 12152/H/20000/3/4. On the rest of them I get less than that, even 0% on some of them. The cable and connections are good. Would a signal amplifier help???

Yaser I'm not sure if Chumley will agree but the only signal amplifier I would use would be a larger dish or an LNB with a lower noise ratio than the one you have.

I personally would go with a spitfire elite LNB it is fairly inexpensive, less than $20.00 and has a .1 db ratio.

I forgot to note that if you do have a cable run of a 100ft or more then a signal amp might work.

TP 12152 is one that has the highest quality reading on my cw600s setup at 72% (earlier i posted 82% as high Q. - actually it's 72%)

Check here to see recommended dish size for your location

A signal amplifier will work if you place it near the LNB.

The order of importance to you for better signal.

1. Larger Dish.
2. Better LNB.
3. Signal amplifier.

You might have to postpone item 1 because of costs and convenience. Item 2 is easier, but item 3 is easiest to try although least important in the heirarchy of usefulness.

To the Mole in charge here now, why did you deleted my thread ? I broke no ecoustics rules and
Nalin Nydass who has broken ecoustics rules his thread is still here?

Keep trying Plymouth..

The Retro Television Network (RTV, previously branded RTN).

It scans as RTN EAST AND WEST at 83w - when I had signal.

You aim your dish on 118.8W!

Do you have a LNB for 118.8?

I'm curreny watching The Rifleman on RTNWest 83W the signal is weak. Right now I'm getting 0 to 35% quality. Its still there along with RTNEast.

Somi Tom you might try 97W they have a lot of foreign stations that free and in the clear.

OK aim your dish on 118.8W first, 119 must work, then aim your 110W LNB.

Use this to aim your dish:

No problem, Plymouth.

I'm glad you found it.

It was pretty weak this morning, seems to be OK at the moment.
