Silver Member Username: EricmbWaycross, Georgia United States Post Number: 208 Registered: Nov-08 | dom.. i cant give u specs, because i dont know what vehicle it would be going in, but5.5- 6 cubes maybe tuned to 34 or 35.. |
Bronze Member Username: DomenicoGlendale, AZ USA Post Number: 82 Registered: Apr-09 | itll be going in the back of a 86 gmc s15 ext cab i dont really know much about building a box, as you could imagine. the way im thinking about building it would be to make like three chainbers in the box? sorta like three single boxes combinded into one? |
Silver Member Username: EricmbWaycross, Georgia United States Post Number: 209 Registered: Nov-08 | that would be a waste of space... just make it one chamber. http://reaudio.com/speaker_box/LPort_Box_Calc.html go there, and plug in the numbers until you get the correct volume and frequency. measure the maximum dimensions of where youre putting the box and this will tell u how big to build it. |
Bronze Member Username: DomenicoGlendale, AZ USA Post Number: 83 Registered: Apr-09 | how do i know what will be the right volume &+ frequency? |
Gold Member Username: Dustin3D&L Audio Tech.Dustin Post Number: 5138 Registered: Oct-05 | looks good, what glue did you use? and dom, you adjust the numbers on the website until you get your desired volume. Your desired volume should be around 6 cubes and the port should be around 32-26. 32 for lower bass extension 36 for more upper bass |
Silver Member Username: EricmbWaycross, Georgia United States Post Number: 210 Registered: Nov-08 | i use titebond.. in one of the pics u see some brown stuff, itscaulk. didnt want ppl to think it was a bad cut.. haha i had to show the guy what caulk was. didnt even know what it was.. :S y u ask what glue i use though? |
Bronze Member Username: DomenicoGlendale, AZ USA Post Number: 84 Registered: Apr-09 | bassman, do you think lower bass would be a better option for my setup? i messed around with the numbers with the hight and depth and width but the port size.. do i type in 32 if i want it tuned to 32? |
Silver Member Username: EricmbWaycross, Georgia United States Post Number: 211 Registered: Nov-08 | no.. where you see frequency, thats what ur box will be tuned to.. u mess with your port size and itll change the frequency.. |
Bronze Member Username: DomenicoGlendale, AZ USA Post Number: 85 Registered: Apr-09 | okay im getting the hang of it.. alomst done, will post specs very soon. |

Gold Member Username: Dustin3D&L Audio Tech.Dustin Post Number: 5140 Registered: Oct-05 | dom, Your box height is 43 inches and its only 18 inches wide. Try changing those numbers around and making it 43 wide and 18 high. And im pretty sure you enter in the internal box port height when doing the port dimentions. (i dont use that program so im not positive) so if your box is 18 inches tall, the port height would be 16.5" |

Bronze Member Username: DomenicoGlendale, AZ USA Post Number: 92 Registered: Apr-09 | oh shiitt yeah sorry that was a type-o the width is 43 and height is 18 & it only gives me an option of putting the port width, no height. ina nutshelll the box is;;; hight--18 width--43 depth--18 tuned--32 port height--16 port width--4 port length 1 & 2 -- 13.25 & 4 sound good? ----------- Mark, thanks for the tip. |
Silver Member Username: EricmbWaycross, Georgia United States Post Number: 212 Registered: Nov-08 | ohh nahh, not gorilla glue, although i have thought about using it. it was some caulk.. |

Silver Member Username: EricmbWaycross, Georgia United States Post Number: 214 Registered: Nov-08 | haha no prob man.. always like seeing a good box... what were measurements zack? |
Gold Member Username: Dustin3D&L Audio Tech.Dustin Post Number: 5141 Registered: Oct-05 | eric, yea, don't use gorilla for enclosures. For one, it would be very expensive, 2 gorilla is polyurethane and is mainly used for repairing porous surfaces (because it expands so well). Just to let you know. again though, great work on the enclosure. |
Silver Member Username: Wackzirth88K-town, Il U.S. Post Number: 161 Registered: May-09 | 4.3ft^3 total internal box volume (including sub and port displacement) 3ft^3 shared chamber after displacement (1.5ft^3 per sub) Inner dimentions 13.5" x 35.5" x 15.5" Outer box dimentions 15" x 37"x 17" Port 3.25"W x 13.5H x 23.25L Tuned to 36hertz its for 2 orion xtr pros, its the recommended enclosure except instead of tuning to 40 hz, i had it tuned to 36hz bcuz i prefer lower bass. one of my buddies figured it all up for me, i just built it to the measurements he gave me. turned out pretty good too. |
