I am confused on how my subs are wired

New member Username: OhsnapjustinPost Number: 1 Registered: Nov-09 | How do i install these? I am new to this area of audio The person i got it from said that they were installed at 2 ohms with the kicker zx 750.1 watt amp they are two dvc kicker 12 inch cvr putting out 400 watts each they are in a box and apparently they are already wired. They are sealed in the middle so i have 4 cables coming out the back end. 2 positive and 2 negative 1) The white is the positive wire and the black is the negative wire <img> 2) <img> four wires come out the back end two positive two negative 3) <img> and im supposed to put them in these the left input is the positive the right input is the negative not very logical but b/c i have two positive wires and two negative, i thought i could jam them both in the positive input, same for the negative i have no idea what this sub is wired at hopefully the pictures will tell? Thanks for your help. idk how but the person i got it from said he wired them up at 2 ohms using this wiring way. I've been asking around and people kept saying you can't wire them at 2 ohms using a mono amp with dvc's Thanks for your help though |

Bronze Member Username: SkdooleyRoanoke, VA Usa Post Number: 93 Registered: Oct-09 | If each woofer is a dual voice coil 4 ohm sub and you have 2 of them, they will either run at 1 ohm, or 4 ohm. If they are both 2 ohm dvc woofers they can run together at 2 ohms or 0.5 ohms. If they are dual 2 ohm woofers you wire them like this to achieve a 2 ohm load at the amp.  |

Bronze Member Username: SkdooleyRoanoke, VA Usa Post Number: 94 Registered: Oct-09 | Your kicker amp is stable at 2 ohm and does peak rms at 2 ohm so it's important to have the woofers wired to as shown. Also be sure to have your gain properly set. |

New member Username: OhsnapjustinPost Number: 2 Registered: Nov-09 | So i can wire my two 4 ohm subs at 2 ohms because the amp can reak peak in the wiring sequence above? I heard that i can only wire them at 1 and 4. At 1 would put my amp in overprotection mode and 4 would only give me a lousy 375 watts for both speakers. |

Bronze Member Username: SkdooleyRoanoke, VA Usa Post Number: 97 Registered: Oct-09 | The best you could do with the items you have is run the subs to the amp at a 4 ohm load. So whatever the 750.1 will do at a 4 ohm load is what will be able to be ran to the woofers. |

Silver Member Username: SkdooleyRoanoke, VA Usa Post Number: 101 Registered: Oct-09 | If you have one 4 ohm dvc sub you can run it to the amp at 2 ohms by itself. Whatever that amp is rated at putting out at 2 ohms (750) is what it would be getting. The subs are only designed to handle 500 rms though. If you turned the gain down it may work but I'd just say get a new amp and keep the 2 subs you have. Sell the kicker and invest it toward a mono block 1 ohm stable amp (aq1200d). |
