So i am upgrading a few things in the trunk an i have decided not to mount my amplifier to my enclosure. I was thinking about mounting it to the side wall in my trunk its a RF 1000-1BD and then i have a little infinite for my 6X9's. i cant figure out if the heat sink on the amp is ground and im just too lazy to go ohm it out. i have two other options mount it to the seat back (which folds down) of just make another strip of MDF carpet it and just mount them to it? i really have no clue and am hoping for some suggestions pictures would be great! thanks guys
Ye so i can hve 500ohms of resistance in my ground no thank you I will use a direct feed. thanks for trying. Mark what dou you got?? u usually have the good tips....
You can mount it anywhere you want. The amp mount itself doesn't need to be grounded (can be mounted to mdf, ect) so long as you have the neg terminal grounded well, I prefer a frame ground.. (if that was what you were asking)Make the ground as short as possible. I overdo my grounds but I run 5 batts and my ground is connected to my frame and the grounded bussbar (which connects 4 batts inline).
btw, That is a good idea to not mount the amp on the enclosure. Age old argument, but I will lean to the side of caution with my equipment.
just to throw in my two cents while learning the in's and out's of this stuff in class its taught to us that mounting the amp to the enclosure is a terrible idea, Think of how hard your hand rattles if you put it on the top of your box while its pounding. Now imagine that happening to electrical parts and magnets which are what make everything work.
