I want to build a downfire box for my JL 12w6v2. Going to do a vented enclosure and got the demensions for a vented box from JL. My question is, I want to change the demensions of the box (keeping the same cu.ft.) but then I would have to change the lengths of the slot port pieces (again keeping the same overall length width and height of the slot port). Hope that makes sense, is this ok to do or will it change the tuning?

Should be the same, atleast to the ear. Not sure on how downfiring would affect it though.

Thanks guys, I might actually be leaning more towards a sealed box now. going into a chevy s10 extended cab, I was told downfire was the way to go for this app. What are your opinions, sealed, ported, downfire etc.? Thanks again

Personally, i would do a downfired ported enclosure since you have a good amount of room with the extended cab.

So i kinda have a similar question. I'm making a center console box for my 92 sonoma standard cab and i am planning for the port to be along the back of the cab, but its gunna have to be a triangle port.
Are there any different ways to figure this than finding the port area of the triangle port, then using and equivilant rectangle port to find the correct port length?
