Your f@cking box is down 3 or 4 time week!

You try to make believe that it's because of server maintenance, Lol! B.S.

I was watching a nice movie on LMN last night and the Kbox went down on that channel. Happened several times before. I may go for Nfusion. Kbox may be a good receiver but down times are getting bad

Sump has no idea why the Kbox goes down. It is IKS. Any time it could go down for weeks. Same for any IKS.
But ..... He is lying if he tells you that Kbox is not down more often than nFusion.

Reality is usually differnt from sales talk.
Nufusion had a big edge over kbox. Now there remains a minor difference in down time - kbox performs slightly worse than nfusion.
The number of Internationals still remain better with kbox, whereas nfusion has a fuller BEV availability.

In another thread I notice another person trying to enhance his sale talk for on line buying by suggesting that Toronto stores are closing down That is total B.S too.

This is a forum - posts here are not for advertising. Give rational information to readers.

i just want to see what the heck they are talking about ..

i actually believe they have no idea and are talking out their you know what

I also believe that since the statements that they have made are are not cut and pastable from any where as of yet so thier games will continue ..

if nfusion has more than Kbox so be it it will be the facts it is very simple i have no problem with it. It is what it is .. for today

I'm not a resellers for any receivers, but a moderator here.

I have a Nfusion Solaris which work very fine since Nova support is gone without freeze.

I can see all members report that Kbox is down 3 or 4 times/week in the morning.

I can see each channels list posted by members or other sites.

That's why I recommand for Bev users Nfusion.

Hi Nalin Nyda,
I have always utilized your valueable posts and always appreciate it.
Today is my first post in this forum.
I have installed my a new dish myself and have bought a new KBOX.
I am getting constantly Level and Quality in Red clolor and Level=88-90%.I did each and every trouble shoot but nothing is helping at all.
I have Bell modem/Router in one.Initially KHUB was red light too bot it has turned into red But signald are constantly Red.I tried my KBox with my neigbour and works fine there.I tried to move my dish all over the sides up/down and Righ/left but signals stay constant and in Red color.
Please help if anybody has any solution.

Munir: I need to know
1. You new dish and LNB, particulalry th emodel of your LNB and the size of your dish.
2. Your neighbour's dish and receiver and modem.
3. Moving it around won't help, but turning receiver off and on helps.
4. Connection details at both places. (wire, wireless or powerline)
Also go into the modem router flash
192.168.2.1 or 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1
and look at the DHCP list and make sure you are allowing your modem to give DHCP. Find the DHCP number given to your kbox and fix it, if you can as a static.
Most people do not have trouble with DHCP assignments, so the problem might be very simple and might correct even before you read this post.

- I believe the dish size and LNB is correct as I purchased all from a store.I had a small dish but I was told that
this small dish will not work with KBOX so I bought a bigger dish(Do not know the size) plus new LNB and KBOX.
- My neighbour's dish is huge one(used to get english channels with previous boxes i.e. Pansat etc.) and receiver is same as mine i.s KBOX and modem is from rogers which is not same as mine.
- Connection details at my place is a wireless and neighbour place has rogers modem which is wired.
- My router does allow DHCP as "Enable DHCP" is checked.
- Please do advise how would I Find the DHCP number given to my kbox and fix it,as a static.
Do you mean that I should match the Network settings in the Box with the router and how?
Thanks for all this.

Your modem and his modem are all connected to some wires - his is from rogers cable and yours is a DSL modem connected to the phone outlet on the wall.
I take it you are using wireless connection from modem to computer. In that case your computer will have some device that will receive wireless signals. Or you are connected by an Ethernet cable from modem to computer .
Similarly your reciever has to be connected by either an Ethernet cable or if not, you need a wireless bridge. see this.
http://transatelectronics.com/store/receivers-kbox_CA150_121
Let me know how you are connected from Modem to your receiver - thrre methods.
1. Ethernet cable.
2. Powerline adaptors - 2 required one at each end
3. wireless bridge.

Try in the url window,
192.168.2.1 or
192.168.1.1 or
192.168.0.1
and look at network connections advanced or use the Sympatico provided software to find this info.

To set a static IP in the KBox

Once you have ascertained the DHCP assigned IP by your router, you can make it static.
Supposing your router has assigned 192.168.002.009 to your kbox khub. You now attempt to make it static.

Set it, save, - it often does not work.
Instead of hitting the 'red' save button, click exit, and when prompted "do you want ot save' then you save.. power off the KBox at the back, wait more then 30 seconds, power the unit back up, and cross your fingers.. This usually works BUT sometimes you'd check the network configuration and boom, back at DHCP, or the static IP was different..

Nalin ...

IMHO this is problematic..

here .

the home owner routers with a subnet of 255.255.255.0

have a total of 256 Ip address, that being said

192.168.2.0 is the "network" address and not used
192.168.2.255 is a broadcast address and isnot useable
192.168.2.1 is usually the default gateway or the IP address of the ethernet port on the LAN side of the router

leaving you with .002.002 to ..002.253

the "out of the box" router usually are setup with the DHCP address pool starting @ .002.100
and may have 25 -50 address to assign

so to avoid conflicts .. DO NOT use a static in that address pool without a reservation.

the simpler way is to set the static below the .100 range
@ like 192.168.2.050 that way the user does not have to loggin to router and mess something up

also the the first 3 octets must match

ie
192.168.2.xxx
192.168.1.xxx
192.168.0.xxx

all the other IP's on whichever network subnet your on MUST match
