And you have a good wire run from the alt to the bat? and bat to amp? and good grounds tru out? It shouldnt be droping that low that fast. I didnt think that amp would even run at 9 volts... |
Bronze Member Username: Cal1089Post Number: 61 Registered: Jul-09 | i did the big three with 0 gauge. the batt is\ proabably old. i couldnt tell you for sure. also it seems i get higher volts in the morning when its cold which is weird to me. also any opinions on the best/ cheapest battery? |

I would start with a battery, see how it goes, then look in a junk yard maybe for a dodge truck or van alt. From a V8. Most would be 136. Should get one fairly cheap. Just look for a newer one that has the same bolt pattern and pully set up as yours. Look for a nippondenso or Bosch |

More batteries. Also, check to make sure current grounds aren't corroded or have shorted out, frayed, come apart or even rusted off. |

My brother runs that same amp ( with a stock 80amp alt and an interstate battery) and his voltage stays in the upper 13s. You probably have a bad ground, or maybe the battery is bad. Get it tested at autozone or something. It also may be a good idea to get your alternator tested. Finding what is wrong will be strictly trial and error. |
