Post Number: 15488 Registered: Jul-05 | u have to admit it looks so weird i wud love to own 1 since it wud be a hell lot lighter to handle & far less weight in ur ride than a traditional ferrite magnet sub but damn man : that price is a killer ....... ![]() |

Neodymiun also has a Higher Mr(magnetism) nomal magnets=ferrite. (2 elements)2O4 heavier more widely used less expensive. lower Mr. These factors are taken into consideration durin the design process so that 99% of the time you wont hear a difference betweent the two. Unfortunately Most think ferrite motors will be louder do to thier size plus its cheaper. |
Silver Member Username: DangerangerOhio United States Post Number: 137 Registered: Mar-09 | alright thanks for the explanation, so is the major difference just weight and magnetism then? sorry to thread jack |
Gold Member Username: Philly306You choose to be ignor... Post Number: 1435 Registered: Apr-07 | yep. Price is by far the biggest factor though. and obviously theier are certain applications where a neo motor would be better suited than a ferrite one. but thats for the listener to decide |

Silver Member Username: Armykyle1Ms Us Post Number: 822 Registered: Dec-08 | X2, it allows you to run a smaller enclosure due to the fact that you have a smaller motor |

Gold Member Username: Philly306You choose to be ignor... Post Number: 1436 Registered: Apr-07 | Although it can be used in a smaller enclosure its not alsways best. Also Neo magnets are very brittle and can corrode easily which is why you see them with the shiny mettalic coats over them. Neodymium is also very heat sensitive. Meaning If it gets too hot no more magnetism and you just ruined a neo motor. This is partly because they aree smaller and therefore have less area to dissapate heat as well as chemical properties that make it not so good in heat. This is why you wont see many neo motors in high power applications without huge heat sinks ot VCs to make up for it. |
