Neodymiun also has a Higher Mr(magnetism) nomal magnets=ferrite. (2 elements)2O4 heavier more widely used less expensive. lower Mr. These factors are taken into consideration durin the design process so that 99% of the time you wont hear a difference betweent the two. Unfortunately Most think ferrite motors will be louder do to thier size plus its cheaper. |

Also Neo magnets are very brittle and can corrode easily which is why you see them with the shiny mettalic coats over them. Neodymium is also very heat sensitive. Meaning If it gets too hot no more magnetism and you just ruined a neo motor. This is partly because they aree smaller and therefore have less area to dissapate heat as well as chemical properties that make it not so good in heat. This is why you wont see many neo motors in high power applications without huge heat sinks ot VCs to make up for it. |
