Friday, July 17, 2009 - 20:24 GMT its going to be used for a pro audio application. its got a lighter stiffer cone, the suspension is stiffer and the motor is a little stronger. The fs should be right around 36hz and the efficiency should be somewhere around 96-97db 1w/1m, which is still on the low side for pro audio, but i think its still going to be able to hang with most high end pro subs. ive got a busy week ahead of me building test boxes and such

Saturday, July 18, 2009 - 01:59 GMT More than likely it will be in a ported box, but there is a lot of testing to do in the next week. While horns are generally more efficient, I feel that the drawbacks out weigh advantages with horns and I don't particularly like the sound of horn loaded subs. Who knows though.. It could possibly end up in a horn if the good ol ported box ends up not meeting our needs

Saturday, July 18, 2009 - 06:47 GMT we can't wait to get it hooked up. We hooked it up to 200 watts free air just to get it moving and there was close 5mm of excursion and loud as hell

Saturday, July 18, 2009 - 15:58 GMT thing with a horn loaded box is they take about 50-100% more wood\screws\glue, wud be about double the size of a 'normal' ported box , alot heavier , takes about 4-5 times as long to build as well with all those exact angles to be cut & assembled - i recently built 1 so im speaking from experience u might be better off using some 4" or 6 " aeroports which wud be the simplest to build & smallest ported box u can get besides sealed which of course is the smallest .....

Saturday, July 18, 2009 - 17:20 GMT Yea rovin. we were thinking about using aeros because it seems it would save money on wood as well (since we plan on doing 3-4 test boxes) But sealed is something that were definitely not going to do

Saturday, July 18, 2009 - 22:37 GMT This is what the finished sub will most likely look like. There will be some changes to the bracing and were doing some testing this week to determine the final specs of the box. As of now the plan is for 7.5 cu ft at 36hz
