wasn't this site supposed to be the sh!t. I feel like they changed the whole structure since the last time i visited. Last time i went on it, it was so informative. Am I on the wrong site? What did they determine was the BEST edead/dynamat/etc? Was it fatmat or one of the like 20 others i forget their names?

Yeah the site did change from the last time i visited it as well. From what I remember, raamat was the best in terms of price/performance. But this was years ago. Some products have changed. More companies using butyl instead of the asphalt based material.

is there a "best" deadener right now? I am only buying a little so I don't mind paying a lot for it. raammat is still real good stuff right?

After years of doing testing and providing free results to the masses, Don learned a great deal about deadener and decided to make his own. The price of SDS products are very good and so far, every customer I have talked to has loved it.

very cool write up jacob. I have a 2000 cherokee so that was perfect. was the hatch hard to deaden? how much did you use? does it still stay open with the stock liftgate holders.

Yes - the hatch stays open fine. It was not incredibly difficult to do either. I only used one layer - just a couple of sheets of Damplifier Pro.

Honestly - I didn't gain any SPL so I quit with one layer BUT it did take down the rattles alot in that area!

he concluded that raamat was the bst for the money, but the best hands down, price doesnt matter was Second Skin Damp pro

jacob has seen a large DB gain for such a little thing to do and so have I.

I saw a 1+ DB gain just from sound deading :-) not to mention having a rattle proof 150+

ive played with a few deadeners....edead ue,edead v.1^2,dynamat extreme, damplifier pro, older raamat stuff (not bxt) asphault based. the edead stuff was usless in my install. the ue was just as bad as the v1^2. :-( dynamat extreme is a very good deadener. if gotten at a good price well worth it. second skin damplifier pro IS the BEST deadener i have used. ive gained roughly 1.9 db from installing it on my roof, doors and ext cab area. the raamat actually suprised me. it seemed thin and maluable, but when i layed it down it did much better then i thought. if i had to choose, it would be damp pro, or dynamat extreme.
