its just the truth lol.. they have a very low FS and they drop the lows.. budget wise would be about the same cost as the Fi Qs

and i did just recommend someone an idmax or pair of idqs in a recent post

i base my information from listening experience not from hearsay or reading.. ive ran RE for 4yrs and never had an issues.. and ive put the subs through a lot more than they should have been in a few cases

most people on here will post what they know.. perhaps if enough people can agree on the they the OP may make the decision to run that or not

and yes ive heard many and many systems.. but they were not my own so how can i base my decision on a 5-10 minute listening session VS hearing something every day in my own rides/home

will the fi qs get low? yes.. but i'd stack 4 SEs against them any day

yanks' idea is a nice sub.

honestly, grab 4 idqv2s', last i saw they were on sale at woofersetc.com. 4 idqs' would be so nice.

or, if you really want lows, try a maelstrom-x! if anything like the shiva-x, you'll absolutely love it!

Eh, it's a decent little sub isn't it Mike? Lol.

Sound Splinter RL-s is my idea. Need quite a bit more power at 3 ohms though.

the trick is to get a subwoofer that can play flat and have some type of output.

I have owned tc subs and did they go low! but you had to find certain songs to play and listen to them over and over since 90% of the songs were to high for the some to pick up since they are so peaky.

I also owned a PG titanium elite. I came up with a box that played flat from 20-70 hz within 3 db but it had no output.

I also use LMS programs to design my boxes and have been playing with subwoofers and subwoofer box design most of my life.

I am still waiting for a sub that can play flat without being in a 10 cube box and still maintain output.

I would like to see a challenge for that instead of spl all the time.

the FS for the 12 is 25.1 Hz
Fs for the 15 is 22 Hz

am i wrong for thinking that the lower the FS, then the lower the sub can go?? for some reason thats what i thought

The RL-s is more on the SQ side. The tc-3000 or Lightning audio storm should have more output. My storm played very flat sealed and the sq was sex.

I've never listened to a Q so I can't compare, but my Atomic APX had a strong low end... then again it was a 10" in a ~2.7cf box @ 35~36 hz in my trunk. It would eat up mid to upper 20 hz region hard.

I would take 2- RL-s's sealed over 2- 0/4-0/5 XXX's all day. But, let's be honest... Both subs are amazing to say the least.

dBLK, what is this setup going in?

yep, metered my SEs on half power .. .7 cubes per chamber and seats don't fold.. did a 141.3 @ 48hz TL .. this was a sweep not a burp, ive never actually burped them

i'd expect mid to high 143s

its going in this guys car... i forgot what kind it was. but he is paying me to build it because places in this area charge a million bucks. so i told him about the Q and just thought i would tell him about anything else that may be good
he just wants lows. but i think how the subs looks makes a difference to him too. he didn't like the 12 idea because he didn't think the magnet looked as cool if it was inverted. ill show pix and stuff if u guys want. ill prolly start friday

gotta admit my pair of rl-s's didn't sound all that loud but it was due to the box size. i just couldn't get a large sealed box in my trunk. also its not easy powering a single 3ohm sub. lol. but the title states what kills the lows and i say the rl-s really kills the lows more than any other subs i've heard or owned.

the excursions were ridiculous when it hit the lows. hahaha.

^^Exactly why I haven't hooked mine up yet. I want to hear this thing so bad, but I don't have an amp that will push it yet.

Very little music goes that low... so I wouldn't tune that low. 30Hz or so will do it nicely as your port will still reduce excursion substantially down to 25 Hz (1/3 octave).

JL subs will get lower than you think but they're pricey. I had a W6 13 in 3cubes @28hz, stupid good SQ and nasty lows, just lacked in overall output. This sub here will get silly low with great output.

http://www.diamondaudio.com/content/view/125/191/

The D6 is a great sounding sub as well. Hex pros and or D9s are fantastic subs. the D3s are even awesome they will easily handle 200 watts over rms. I don't know why none of guys recommend diamond. They make a really solid product. Any way diamond gets my vote. I'll take a D3 over a RE.

I had a 15" D6 and it had a descent low end. I mean it got low, but didn't get as low as my TC9, ED SPv2, APX, or LA storm. None the less the D6 is still a solid sub and can take a beating.

IMO the D6 seemed to play a lil higher than the D3s and D9s, I love em lol
