OK, first of all I have recently purchased an Audiobahn Flame Q AW1206T....I know some people dont think highly of them, but that is besides the point. I have noticed a small vibration coming from the sub...audible mainly at low volumes. When i apply pressure on the center of the cone the sound seems to go away. I took the sub out of the box and tested voice coils for ohms...everything normal and there is no rubbing or scratching. When i push on the cone and let off i hear a faint clicking sound. I stuck my finger threw the basket and applied pressure on the spider on one side of the sub as I pushed on the cone and the same noise was there...but when i applied pressure on the spider and pushed on the cone on the other side of the sub...the sound seems to stop...I Don't know what it is....thought it could be trash in side or the stupid plastic logo on the cone...took it off and blew and vacuumed the inside of the sub threw the venting no luck...so I am boggled at what it is. Anybody else experience similar problem? Any help would be appreciated!
It's a brand new sub...just bought off ebay! I looked where the cone glues onto the motor assembly...seemes to be fine...I might take it in some where and ask about it. Not tinsel slap...cuz i haven't even driven it hard....and I can hear it because it is right behind my head in a extended cab dodge dakota. 2.75 cubic foot box tuned to about 35-36 hz....other than that vibration...sounds great when i turn the volume up to cancel out the noise. HAHA! But I stil hear it when I stick my ear close to the cone when it is hittin hard. There weird thing is the vibration doesn't seem to change at higher volumes...it doesn't get louder or worse...It is the worst at low volumes cuz that is where i can hear it the most!...I am boggled by this! But it is definitely something mechanical...cuz i hear the lil click when I push on the cone!
Jordon, did it seem to affect it any? Mine seems to still hit hard and seems to be ok,,,just that stupid vibration from inside the woofer somewhere...I think it is somethin to do with the spider...but not sure about that...
Check the spider to the cone glue joint. Sometimes these glue joints give out and the spider will a create clicking sound as it rubs against the back of the cone's texture.
