so i have the decision of getting a 85 monte carlo ss or a 93 s-10

pros on monte carlo: good paint, 24s, decent amount of tread on tires, nice trunk for some subs
cons: gas and the price of tires when needed

pros on s-10: hydrolics, 20 inch spokes, tilt bed, custom paint, shaved all the way around
cons:its a reg cab so there arent many options i have for adding a system, its a stick =/, parts maybe expensive if something goes wrong with the hydrolics

What motors are in each... if the S10 is a 4.3 then thats a good truck... 2.8 or 4 banger, don't touch it.

The monte carlo I wouldnt get unless its got a motor swap.... neither the V6 or 305 that comes in those has any decent power.

i'd spend a lot less on something not modified.. and go about it yourself.. this way you know if its done right and can have exactly what you want

I wouldn't touch the S10 unless you know a thing or two about hydro's.

My friend had a Monte Carlo SS with the 305. With the exception of a shift kit, it was stock. That car flat out flew. At that time in my life I was running 2 different Bracket Racing cars, and a street car. So I wasn't easy to impress to say the least. The weight transfer was outstanding considering he had stock suspension. Was automatic and would regularly get sideways( may be a stretch but the 2nd gear scratch was crazy) when shifting into 2nd gear. Now that I think about it, He did have ~3.88 posi (from factory) but that was a rare option. He started having problems keeping transmissions from falling apart, so he sold it and bought a RX-7 (wankel engine). I hated him for that but he liked it. For a stock car it was fast. I would barely beat him by a link to a link and a half, And my Charger was not stock and I was running a big block. On Rankin Road in Houston(local racing spot) He was smokin' 383 strokers regularly, and he beat a new Vette, with only the jump as a stipulation in the race. This car is not light, but it was a gem.. Admittingly I really liked that body style and always wanted a Grand National. But I spent all my money on Big Block Chevy's and Mopars.,
