I'm no expert man but really just choose whats in your price range and from a good company which I know someone on here can recommend, but find what you want and they make it specifically for your car.

Here's some that I have seen recommended before:

http://www.db-starter-alternator.com/
http://www.excessiveamperage.com/

Hope that gives you a start.

watch out for ExcessiveAmperage, they are sorta on the lines of Iraggi, ive heard they arent the best product or customer service.

Again no expert, but I'd say your best bet is to check out the ones mentioned call the places get quotes for what you are looking for and do some research on the product see what other people who have used them think.

is it a matter of the amount of space u can fill with an alternator OR is it if the engine can even handle a certain amount of amps the alt puts out, and if so how can i tell what size i can fit

You should have options for which ones will work on your car. Once you choose what company you want to go through if you call them and tell them what you want they will tell you what will work for your car and give you a price. Correct me if I'm wrong someone but I'm pretty sure that's how it works.
