| I have a Sony STR-d711 rated for 8 ohm speakers. I am driving a pair of cerwin vega dx-7's which are rated 4 ohm. At about 1/3 power, the sony "protector circuit" cuts out the power. I'm told this is because the speaker's are drawing too much power. I would like to add a 4 ohm resistor to the + lead going to each speaker in an effort to resolve the ohm incapatibility. Any thoughts??? |
John A. | Why not? Should be fine. You will get lower volumes for the same gain setting. It does not have to be the + lead. Cam Romeril has a similar question, though no cut-out problem: https://www.ecoustics.com/electronics/forum/home-audio/5555.html |
