HDMI to Component cable

I have a Hp Dv 5000 laptop which contains HDMI output port now i want to view HD content on my TV which is Hitachi 29 inch (Non HD) which don't have HDMI input. I want to know that if i buy a HDMI to Component cable will that work on my tv ?

Even if an HDMI to component cable existed, you still can not watch HD content on a non-HDTV.

They do make HDMI to component converter boxes. I don't know if they downconvert to 480i though.
