Finally got an hour or so into my build. I've been trying to figure out a way to position everything so it would fit and look really nice. This is a really rough skeleton of the amp/battery rack. This is about 32" of the final 49" it will be. I will have:

5 Powermaster D3100s
8 runs of 1/0 (4 + 4 -)
at least 2 alternators, currently 400a total, probbaly go to about 750/800. Using Mechman atm
2 Fi BTL 18s- going to 22s when they're out
Realm 6.5 components
Eclipse 4ch
American Bass 1000.1

Should be updating every other day or so when they don't keep me 12+ hours at work like they have been.

Really really unfinished, but I plan on carpeting it black and having everything flushed in real nice. It's hard to imagine but that's why it's a build log.

That box in the corner there is a ported box for a 12" type-x and hifonics 2006d- just to give you an idea of realative size. Piss off about the ghetto room though- house is a work in progress too lol.

More tomarrow or Tuesday night.

Nice man, ready to see that. I'm hoping an astro or something will come along and I can go back up to a big-boy system, but for now it is what it is. I want a wall so bad!

yeah he should be good tho, 2 500.1's 5 D3100's and a single mechman alt like him i wasnt seeing too much of voltage drop, each amp was at 1 ohm so basically its the same electrical setup as him so he should be good :-)

and ya i cant wait, 2-4 18's in a s10 should be LOUD lol :-)

You are right D-money :-)

I got this truck for the tow package + 4x4 so it sits level once everythings in. The last system was around 20cubes net, this is more like 10-11.

There will be several boxes instead of just one- I want to be able to do 2 subs for daily/comps, but be able to pull one out when I've got baby stuff to haul around. I can't carry a 10-20ft box with 2 subs in myself, but I can carry individual boxes.

Thanks, I started college classes that are going to keep me from doing work tonight, hopefully tomarrow. I'm making sure I have everything planned out perfectly.

Wow, so I got this malware Spyware Protect 2009 on my computer somehow. Spent the last 2 days trying to get rid of it. I deleted the .exe, but there was a .dll in my system32 folder that was keeping me from acessing any websites.

I had to restart in command prompt mode just to delete the file called iehelper.dll and allow me to use explorer again.

I couldn't even google how to find the problem because it would go to google and anything relating to computers or the program was blocked. What a pain in my @SS- stopped me doing A LOT of other things. Like this build :-(

Avast and Norton didn't do jack for it, they only found a few infected files and they were from porne- totally unrelated.

wouldnt really say that since in most of smd builds he tunes low for music but meters it just for sake to see what it can do ...harder to get high spl when tuned that low...

wow, ya don't say. I've been flooded with calls from people with that over the past few days. Then just last night it showed up on MY laptop.... no idea how which pisses me off. I scan everything I download, must have come in through a website.

Spybot search and destory will kill and remove it if you have one of the less nasty variants, there are several. Some encrypt your my documents folder, others just hijack IE and windows.

I'd highly recommend you run a spybot scan even if it is no longer appearing. Those malware programs install several files and reg keys and you likely did not find them all.

http://www.safer-networking.org/en/spybotsd/index.html

By far my favorite anti-spyware program that I recommend to everyone.

yeah i would, he's got how many 18's and how much power? and last i heard was what a 155.x?

last show i just hit a 150.6 at 35hz with 2 old skool juggs and 2500 rms subs needed alot more power also :-)

im sorry but IMO steve meade is a great installer makes everything look nice but cant get very loud :-(

I'm debating on tuning for the reasons you mentioned- I want it loud but I love some lows. I wont have time for many comps, but much more for daily listening and demos. Also with my sunroof off track I'm down ~1db from the get go. 150s at 30hz is more fun lol.

Thanks guys!

Paul- I'm flattered but I don't know how the wife would like it.
After this first one I think child support would be a b/tch too!

Steve Meade just isn't going for all out SPL. His builds look amazing and he does really clean work. I have a picture on my computer that shows him metering 158.8 around 35hz? Maybe I'm wrong but years ago I saved it from one of his posts about his hoe.

So who wants to see this geared towards SPL and who towards daily? I don't really care because I'm in no rush and will probably eventually make boxes for both seperate purposes. I'm trying something different than I did before- sub up port up. I had it sub up port back for several builds and just want to get rid of some of the rear-hatch shake.

I'm thinking 5ft per sub net with either 92sqin of port or 115sqin. Any thoughts on that?

i would make 2 boxes for sure. then u can have both
unless this is for comps tune it low if u just make one. when some one sets in ur car and listens to it high they will think its really loud. if some one sets in ur car with it tuned low they will po op there pants
i know every one will say im not right but i would make the box a littlemore than 5cuft persub. and for ur spl box the port opening much bigger

I don't want to do those yet, I'll be doing some kerf cuts.

BLK, I think with as much power as they'll be getting over 5ft would be a mistake.

I love you too andrizzle damn j/p j/p lol, but thanks a lot.

Sounds like 34hz it is.

Basically finished the amp rack today. Should get more done this week. One sub should be in and running by wednesday hopefully. The piece I worked on today is really more like just a place for more batts and fuses. Pics of today:

Those dark boards were just in there for spacing while assembling everything, but they might stay since they'd be hidden anyway.

Bracing- 5/8 threaded rod. I couldn't see a reason to go bigger when this is just so solid.
