I have two mono amps each running one of my two subs. When I turn my head unit to zero volume one of the subs is slightly moving in and out. I unplugged the input RCAs and the movement stops. What could I do to fix it?
I did not have this problem before I removed the amps from my car for a couple of months. I had them reinstalled yesterday. Noticed the problem right away. So I don't think it could be the head unit or the RCAs cause they worked fine before. Same gain settings as well. I thought it might have to do with how the amps were wired. But I don't know. Snow- Don't be a _ick. Looking for some help. Thanks.
Your kidding right? It can't be good for the amp or the sub. Something is not right which I'm sure could result in permanent damage to the sub or amp. So do you know what I could do to fix the problem?
Ok, I turned down the gain on the amp connected to the sub that is still moving at zero volume. The movement stopped. However, it was the same gain setting as before and I didn't have that problem. I moved the gain down on the other sub amp so they were equal and the subs do not seem to be moving together or at the same rate.
give decription of amps,hu, subs, and enclosure. Is the enclosure common chambered? also lightly jiggle the rca's at all points on amps. Did you add anything to this setup while the amps were out(crossover, ect)? Did you use same amp mounting and ground locations as before?
Swap the RCA's on the amps, if it does it on the other amp then probably bad RCA's, might have messed up the ground in them when uninstalling. What kind of RCA's?
Head unit is a pioneer premier. Subs are 2 12" alphas, amps are one JBL for mids and highs, two ED Nine.1 for the subs. Enclosure is common chamber 4.5 cuft at 37 hz. Nothing different was added in the time I had everything out which makes me believe when everything was put back in they messed up wiring somewhere. Same RCAs.
