Hey, just received my 15" Fi BL and just constructed a box for it.

Box specs:

Port Area - 55
Volume before displacement - 3.97
Frequency - 32.2hz - 32.6hz

Setup:

15" Fi BL
Jl 1000/1
2 awg wiring
Stock deck
Stock Electrical

Here's the problem. My freind with a 12w7 in an H/O box pounds way harder!

His Setup:

12w7 in H/O box
Alpine PDX 1000.1
4 awg wiring
Alpine deck
Stock electrical

His system is in a Dodge Magnum mine is a Ford Expedition soon to be a 96 Cutlass.

My plans:

Kinetik HC 1800 or more
Non stock deck
Big 3 under hood
Maybe new ALt

What else do I need to make it pound harder?

New amp?
Is the box good specs?

Help would be amazing!!!!!!

that box could be bigger if you wanted to gain some spl.

Biggest box able to fit in the car.
Will the SPL increase quite a bit after being broke in?

subs take a while to break in properly dont expect the sub to get to potential for up to 60 hours of play time if you break it in properly. that was about a month of driving for me.

Also smaller cars get louder in comparison to larger cars so being In his car would sound louder when in it

the w7 and HO box is a D@MN nice system so beatingg it with th same power will be hard to do, especially in a larger vehicle.

90% of the sound from a system is install dependent. maybe try a different box and tune higher.the BL can take more than 1krms. however, you will need twice as much power to hear an audible difference. twice as much power means you will need a new alt, battery, and Big3 upgrades. how bad do you really want to be louder? getting loud isnt just about hookin up everything right, its about experimenting and finding what does best in YOUR vehicle.

p.s. dont try to be louder than your friend, try to find the sound YOU want and like

Stupid question for you guys.

Since I'm powering my BL with a JL 1000/1 can I set my bass boost pretty high and my input level almost full?

Do I have to worry about blowing the BL with this amp since the BL can take more than 1000 watts?

bass boost should be turned off all the time.

^^^Why is that snow? Bass boost won't physically hurt a single thing just because it is on.

And KT why would he need a new head unit lol?

"you will need twice as much power to hear an audible difference".

^^^Where the h3ll did you hear that? It would depend greatly on the setup, way too general comment.

How did you set your gain? Wait at least a week or so for the sub to break in before doing anything drastic. You have a much bigger vehicle that a Durango like Arbaca said, that will make some difference. Try putting the W7 in your vehicle on your amp if you want to do something, but other than just wait it out.

Where does your voltage stand with that amp? Just curious.

JL has a tutorial for setting up that amp, I don't remember the url, just google it.

And snow I'm just giving you a hard time about BB lol, I know what you meant. keep the BB low (I personally keep it off), if the gain is set properly it shouldn't be needed. Read up a bit about BB before you use.
