Bronze Member Username: Pistol_peteCavalier, Nd United states Post Number: 18 Registered: Jan-09 | ok thanks you but if you say that the amp is 2 ohms stable and the subs are 2 ohms why wouldnt it work??? |
Bronze Member Username: Raydizzle34Post Number: 23 Registered: Aug-08 | Bcuz if you wire them in parallel, u have a 1 ohm load and if you wire them in series you have a 4 ohm load. get two 4 ohm subs and wire them in parallel and your system will work. |
Bronze Member Username: Pistol_peteCavalier, Nd United states Post Number: 20 Registered: Jan-09 | i already bought them and it says that they can only run at 2ohms parallel or 8 ohms series so how can i get them to go to 4 ohms?? raydizzle?? |

Gold Member Username: BonhamdTraverse City, MI Post Number: 1800 Registered: Nov-07 | 1 dual 4 ohm sub will wire to either 2 ohms or 8 ohms 2 dual 4 ohm subs will wire to either 1 ohm or 4 ohms see the link below: http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer_configurations.asp?Q=2&I=42 the amp is only stable down to 2 ohms so you would have to wire it to 4 ohms - that amplifier at 4 ohms is not enough power for those subs look into an AQ1200D - $249 shipped http://www.audioque.com/aq/AQamps.htm |
Bronze Member Username: Pistol_peteCavalier, Nd United states Post Number: 22 Registered: Jan-09 | i have 2 12" w6v2 d4's jl audio subs and in the wiring diagram that came with them it shows me how to wire them parallel wich will drop them to 2 ohms or series wich will bring them to 8ohms each but thats if i was to wire just one of them. i have a jl audio 1800 watt amp and tried to hook them up parallel but it cutts out so i had to wire them series wich i think is at 8ohms . i was wondering since they are d4's if i could wire them them to 4 ohms? |
Bronze Member Username: Pistol_peteCavalier, Nd United states Post Number: 23 Registered: Jan-09 | thanks for the advice daniel but i just bought that jl audio amp like a week ago along with my w6v2's |
Gold Member Username: BonhamdTraverse City, MI Post Number: 1801 Registered: Nov-07 | http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer_configurations.asp?Q=2&I=42 those are your options - go with option 2 and wire to 4 ohms i would sell the amp if possible and get something you can wire to 1 ohm |
Bronze Member Username: Pistol_peteCavalier, Nd United states Post Number: 25 Registered: Jan-09 | ok i will wire them like that then thanks again daniel. what i get another amp like it and wire one sub to each amp? what would be the ohm load on them then? |
Gold Member Username: BonhamdTraverse City, MI Post Number: 1802 Registered: Nov-07 | i would recommend the AQ1200D for the amp it does 1200 RMS into 1 ohm - you would then use wiring option 1 I think the AQ would be a good fit because it is brand new, has warranty, and i have read nothing but good things about their customer service. all of that for $249 shipped is tough to beat |
