i am trying to put together a new system. i have a dodge durango so i have plenty of room. i was wondering what is a good set of subs/amps that wouldnt make me have to upgrade my electrical. i was thinking about 4 15's if that would even be possible without upgrading. i dont want to go over 1000wrms so would say 4 subs at 250wrms a piece be louder than 2 subs at 500wrms each? i hope this makes sense. please shoot me some opinions.

You get some kicker comp or some older JL w3. I would just go with 2 15's that will do 500 or 600RMS. A pair of RE SE.

One 15 or even an 18 on that wattage would be sweet.

You will have a shitton of options for that power range for amps. Are you set on having 4 subs or would you be open to 2 15's instead? Personally, I would choose 2 15's. No one can say how much power you can run without running into problems. We can give you an idea but no set figure. There are several people who are/will be running a bunch of power on stock electrical. I personally will be close to 2k on stock electrical but to be safe, I would stay right around the 1k mark. Are you looking for more SQ or more SPL? Give us a budget as well for the sub and amps and we can point you in a good direction.

As for the light dimming, doing the big 3 will help.

ok first off i respect everyones opinion when they tell me to do 2 15's so thats what i will be going for. Probably the RE audio subs. i want spl. i want some subs that will thump at low power. 1200 watts rms is the highest i want to go...my budget is probly about 600 for sub and amp. thanks for all the help guys
