I am shopping for subwoofers and I think I have found the right kind. I am looking at 2 12 inch W3 JL audio subs. I wanted to know if I had a 1000 watt amp, would these subs be sufficient in my vehicle? Like..in your opinion, would they hit very hard? |

Bronze Member Username: Sonic_assaultKaty, Tx Usa Post Number: 14 Registered: Oct-07 | yes...look at any JL audio product from the past couple of years and see if its made in the USA like JL was so famous for previously. well they are made in china so u be the judge. dont get me wrong when JL used to be engineered in the US it was awesome....but now u just pay all that for the name. so its lile many other companies out there. made in china, even my diamonds are made in china, they didnt used to make them in china, but what can u do.....:| ya know? oh well, some of the few companies that are still hand made in the US are DD, RE,FI etc: |

Bronze Member Username: Sonic_assaultKaty, Tx Usa Post Number: 15 Registered: Oct-07 | ok...heres the deal i just checked with a buddy of mine who is an authorized dealer of many audio companies including JL. this is what i got from him.... he said most JL amps are made in korea, majority of subs are USA, (florida), they manufacture there own parts for W6's And W7's, there lower end subs=China. JL componenets = german made (kurt mueller) The reason i stated that they werent made in the US is because i have personally seen newer JL products made in china...W1's and small amps. |
Silver Member Username: SemperfiPost Number: 167 Registered: Oct-08 | just because they are made in china doesn't mean that the quality has decreased though... i may get my a$s chewed for this but "american cars" aren't made in america (not all but some) and their quality hasn't diminished, i mean you can't really go lower than what they already are but yea their quality is still the same... |
Bronze Member Username: Sonic_assaultKaty, Tx Usa Post Number: 16 Registered: Oct-07 | well....i can agree with that to a certain point. i think what you mean is JL propably keeps there standards high when having products made overseas. i would imagine they have strict standards on materials and building....but never the less if the products were made in the US, i would think that there would be better standards as well as craftsmanship. it would be easier to keep an eye on things... as far as the american car thing, im not real sure about why american cars wouldnt be made in america because thats the whole point of the american car economy...its cheaper to have them made here, which is why most japanese and foreign cars are assembled here in america... |
Bronze Member Username: Sonic_assaultKaty, Tx Usa Post Number: 17 Registered: Oct-07 | well actually unless your talking about assembly then i totally agree. why pay someone here to put together an engine for 25$ when u can get a dude from mexico to do it for 5$an hour |

RE is made in the US???![]() And I wouldn't trust a guy building a motor for me who only make $5 an hour haha. You could have the best parts and design in the world, but if Ronald Mcdonald puts it together for $5 it's probably gonna blow. |
Silver Member Username: SemperfiPost Number: 172 Registered: Oct-08 | well.... most jap cars have cheap parts but are put together really well, which is why they last for so long on the road, and for the most part don't break down as often... american cars use more expensive parts but aren't put together as well there for they break down more (in general im talking here not all the time...) but back to topic, just because they are made in china doesn't mean that the quality sucks... i can pretty much gaurentee a JL W1 12" will sound better than any sony, polk, thunder, crunch ext. |
