Silver Member Username: PoundhardhehPalmerston, Ontario Canada Post Number: 148 Registered: Oct-08 | I bought a 15" Fi Bl which is going to be powered by a Jl 1000.1 wired at 4ohms (JL 1000.1 1-4ohm = 1000watts) I'm running 2 awg wiring right now and I'm going to move up to 0awg(proboly best right?). I also am running a Kinetik HC1200. I am planning on doing the big 3, also I just have a stock alt, think it will hold up to 1000 rms? Or should I upgrade? Is 16v nessecsary or 12v battery? Now on to the box idea! Heres my design so far, it's a dual L port box...and heres the specs... 5.3 cubes 35hz Square port area = 112 Square port volume displaced = 4213 Does that sound like good specs? |

Silver Member Username: PoundhardhehPalmerston, Ontario Canada Post Number: 150 Registered: Oct-08 | Other idea... 4.7cubes 35.8hz Port area =108.5 Volume displace = 4306 Which numbers look better? Just so I can know what I am kinda looking for. |

Silver Member Username: PoundhardhehPalmerston, Ontario Canada Post Number: 152 Registered: Oct-08 | a car trunk. It's all facing the rear of the vehicle. It's gunna be a double L-port box, with a port area of 108.5 which is like more than enough. |

Bronze Member Username: ChristopherrmPost Number: 15 Registered: Nov-05 | I had the JL 1000/1 at one point and while I really like the amp I can tell you that efficiency is not its strong point. I replaced an Alpine MRP-M1000 with a JL 1000/1 (not v2) and while my stock alt could keep up with the Alpine, the JL set to normal gain levels at moderate to high listening levels would pull so much my headlights would dim considerably. I don't know about the specific efficiency for it, but I remember reading a bench test where the 500/1 was only hitting in the low 50% range which for a Mono D amp is not so great. I would say you really should consider a new alternator with that amp. It is a sweet sounding amp, but it is also the reason that made me finally need to get a new alternator to keep up with it. |
