It seems that the admins deleted my other thread "meet the trolls" or King asked them to delete it because he couldn't answer my question. But since he asked me to repeat the question for him ....here it is ...

When I was 15 my parents left me home alone for the weekend ( dumb move I thought to myself PARTY TIME RIGHT?) Well turns out he took it upon himself to take the needle out of the turntable and took it with him on his trip so I couldn't use it.

Anyway to get back at him for tricking me I "disabled" it for a bit longer and got him back.

When they got back he wanted to use it and replaced the needle but it didn't work.

I didn't bust it up or anything like that. I touched one thing on it to disable it from working. And it only took a second to do.

My question to you King or anyone is....

What did I do to stop it from working?

My father could never figure it out. He tried for 3 weeks to fix it. It was driving him crazy. Finally I broke down and told him what I did to it.

King I will give you one more day to give me the right answer. Call this a dare... You claim to be an expert in the field of electronics .. nows your chance to prove this to me and everyone else here especially "Jimmy"

the count down starts NOW... at 6pm tomorrow I exspect and answer or sooner.

He can't answer it. He will tell you his computer is broke and couldn't get back to you. I think fakeman is a good name for him.

Happy valentine's day.

I know.........I'm early, can't stand to be late.

I didn't ask no one to delete anything

How am I supposed to know what yo did?
Yo touched one thing and it didn't work
I have no idea what yo touched
Or what yo disabled
I have no idea what brand or what yo even mean by replace it
Replace what?
Yo mean he put the needle back or replaced it with another needle
And I'm not an expert on turn tables

I'm a Physics major
But I did worked in the field of electronics for 28 years

In 1983 I built T1 and T2 systems before the internet became public access
And I worked for Bell Labs in PA for 5 years
I know nothing about needles
I Troll the Trolls
I hope this helps

When you were working building the T1 and T2 systems, were you working for Al Gore? After all he invented the internet.

OK Doreen, you only touch just touch
one thing, didn't break anything, didn't move or twist any parts used any tools the only thing you did was just touch and after three weeks your father couln't fix it.
needless to say I can't either

I didn't bust it up or anything like that. I touched one thing on it to disable it from working. And it only took a second to do.

My father could never figure it out. He tried for 3 weeks to fix it. It was driving him crazy. Finally I broke down and told him what I did to it.

I touched just one thing.... I guess you could say I broke that part but, it was fixable in the end with some black electrical tape and some solder.

OK King

I will tell you now what I did

I CUT THE GREEN WIRE in half at the back of it. it was exposed. I do believe that is the ground wire which is attached to the turntables box/case.
In doing so the result meant no power

cutting the ground would only give it a 60 cycle hum, it would still work

Green wire (ground wire) is for grounding and without it, the unit will still operate. If you cut either white or black wire, it will not work

Yes, he could not play those Jeannie C Riley records from back then. BTW she was just a one hit wonder with Harper Valley PTA. She has more experience than King as she wrote the song about it in 1960's So she was doing PTA wayyyyy before King was. Maybe King is too young to remember....how bout u Doreen?
