Many channels are ac3 audio, your receiver will have to have ac3 audio pass, if so hook it up to a amp with digital audio and all should be fine, if you have a dvb HD receiver it should decode the ac3 on it's own.

Oh and if you find good channels open and not listed on lyngsat please keep them to yourself, as public posting gets channels encrypted.

You would need an external Sound Blaster Audigy AC3 converter Plymouth. I used to listen to V-me myself on AMC3 to learn Spanish.

You do not need the PC card nor the remote control unit. Just the box hooked to SPDIF output of your Viewsat and to your sound system.

I bought mine on eBay for peanuts.

"Many channels are ac3 audio, your receiver will have to have ac3 audio pass"

MPEG-2 receivers can decode AIF or AC3 all ISO standards
AIF is uncompressed audio
AC3 is digital dolby compressed
Surround sound that's different
That's an encoded signal within AC3
L&R plus up to 4 subs

plymouth
Don't go crazy
No need for special audio out
No SPIDF no optical
Yor basic L/R port is all yo need
Like I told yo some bins cause audio problems
Try a real virgin FTA receiver
Yor receiver lost its virginity somehow

After a check with Viewsat the Vs Ultra can't provide AC3 audio on RCA output but on S/PDIF output.
I have a eye on a new Home theater with this input on it.
Yes my receiver lose his CHERRY
Are you able to get it on your Xtreme.

I get AC3 on Xtreme and on Visionsat
Most channels operate on AC3 for less bandwidth
Infact very few channels do AIF audio

"After a check with Viewsat the Vs Ultra can't provide AC3 audio on RCA output but on S/PDIF output. "
Not true
MPEG-2 has the option to pair with AC3 or AIF format

I don't have a connected 33" dish at this time
But it's not an AC3 issue to answer yor question
Yo may wanna call the provider on Monday
It's Free to Air
So yo should get sound
Not unless yor current bin is doing something to the Audio
I did came across that before on Visionsat just few days ago
I had to load a different bin to fix the audio

For example
Visionsat bin V216 had Audio problems
Same day they came back with Audio fix bin V217

Check NORWFTA.COM

King I have never get any channels in AC3 with my viewsat Ultra, i just check with viewsat today and the guy says that the Ultra doesn't have the decoder for it and I need to use the S/PDIF output for it.

If anybody can get it with Ultra please reply here.

It is possible that the person that you contacted at VS gave you bad information.

Also, are you sure it is broadcast in AC3?

Few Free to Air satellites Provide both choice with AC3 and standard, since i have this receiver, I have never get sound on channels with AC3.
But I will just buy a new Home Theater with the S/PDIF and give a try and come back with the result.

Sounds good (pun) lol. I was just trying to eliminate any issues with the BIN. Sorry I am fixed @ 110, 119 With Prv7000 so I could not verify the signals you are receiving.
