This doesn't help you with the hard drive issue but I thought you'd want to read this.

Default Copy movie from hard Drive
Is there a way to copy a movie recorded to the HD and create a DVD with it?

Thank You

You can do it, there are a few steps as follows:

- get the file from the hard disk onto your PC
- convert the file from MPEG TS (transport stream) to MPEG PS (program stream)
- create DVD filesystem using DVD authoring software
- burn to DVD

There are a couple of different ways to get the file off the hard disk. The vspro records to a kind of linux (EXT2) filesystem, but it will not mount in normal linux. The easiest way is to have a FAT32 filesystem on your drive as well (you had to create one when you formatted it, just make sure it is big enough) and to copy the file over to the FAT filesystem in the menu of the vspro. Once this is done you can take the hard disk and plug it into your PC and get the file.

Another way is to use a program on windows that reads the linux filesystem, but this is slow. You can find this program somewhere here in the forums.

The next problem is that the file is not in exactly the right format for a DVD. It is MPEG2 but the formatting is a transport stream and a DVD needs a program stream. I had good results with ProjectX which is written in Java so it runs on all platforms. You can read all about this on wikipedia or afterdawn etc.

Once you have a PS file, most DVD authoring software can create a DVD from it.

Note: not all programs recorded from the satellite are suitable for burning to DVD, sometimes the aspect ratio is not compatible... this is a more difficult problem to solve.

go 2 hd file manager screen transfer file from left side to right side changes file type download 2 stick insert in computer burn from stick 2 disk hope i havent left anything out good luck.

If I am not mistaken, VS PVR needs a min size HD of 80meg.

Disk interface must be "IDE" type and size is usable between 80G Byte and 2T Byte.
