hi everybody

i was just wondering if the cable i use for transferring files on fortec lifetime ultra (works perfectly) will work on every other reciever as well?

NO !

Some STB's are standard rs-232 and others crossovers (null)

which recievers do my cable work on?

(i dont know if mine is standard or crossover, but it does work for a FORTEC LIFETIME ULTRA)

Khalid: The cable you have is a straight RS-232. The other type is called a Null modem cable. The PINs 2 and 3 are switched there.
More receivers use Null Modem cable. If the cable you have does not work, you will either have to buy a DB9 F/F cable or buy a DB9 M/F Null adaptor.
The null cable will work directly or the null adaptor and you original cable will become a null cable.

And what recievers do the null and straight work on?
