Gold Member Username: Snowball123West Allis, WI Post Number: 1804 Registered: Oct-07 | The vehicle is a 2000 Chevrolet Xtreme Pickup. Alright, I am pretty clueless on what battery to get, but it looks like it is a group 75. I am only looking to upgrade the starter battery. I've looked at brands like powermaster, kinetik, odyssey, etc. But I cant find group size 75 other than odyssey, I have no idea what the group sizing means, so could someone please help me. |

Gold Member Username: Snowball123West Allis, WI Post Number: 1805 Registered: Oct-07 | you think that'd be safe enough to run about 2300 watts off of, with a 250 amp alt? |

A Kinetik 1800 is too big. You either have to find a battery that will fit that puts out some serious amps, or modify your battery tray and whatever else limits you. Group 75 is L=9 1/16 x W=7 1/16 x H=7 11/16 |

Gold Member Username: Snowball123West Allis, WI Post Number: 1807 Registered: Oct-07 | yeah, I was looking at DEKA's also. And M.S., I was looking at the measurements of that odyssey, and they're too big to what brad said my max mesaurments were. Amd Twiz, that battery is too big also, the length and height are over the max dimensions. |

" Well I don't get to say this often but brad isn't completely right here...... you're talking to someone who has that battery in a S10 Blazer..... You have to cut a corner off the battery tray IIRC then it goes right in. |
Gold Member Username: Snowball123West Allis, WI Post Number: 1811 Registered: Oct-07 | alright, sounds good. |
Gold Member Username: JoebruceTC Sounds/DLS Post Number: 2487 Registered: May-04 | Snow, what are the MAX dimensions for a S10? I really dont feel like measuring it myself lol. |
Gold Member Username: Snowball123West Allis, WI Post Number: 1812 Registered: Oct-07 | its in Brads post. L=9 1/16 x W=7 1/16 x H=7 11/16, but M.S. said you can just cut part of the battery tray to fit a bigger size. |
Gold Member Username: JoebruceTC Sounds/DLS Post Number: 2488 Registered: May-04 | I dont feel like making a new thread so Im just gonna steal yours Snow What is everyones opinion on a Red Top batt? remybattery.com has them for $109.85 new. I am going to be running around 12-1500 watts and just need one good batt under the hood. So will a Red Top be better than the "Wal-Mart special" batt? Or about the same or what? Would a Yellow Top be a better choice? Any other options, let me know. I only wanna spend $125ish on a new batt. |
Gold Member Username: Nd4spd18Philadelphia, PA Post Number: 9118 Registered: Jul-06 | You can fit a little taller battery will no mods, can fit wider by cutting the corner of the tray..... Optima are among the worst brands I have expierenced..... although nothings as bad as walmart NeverStart (everstart) FWIW: Odyssey are the best batteries I have used. I have the PC1500 in my Blazer, and in 0 degree weather it cranks as strong as in the summer, no sluggish-ness. Also I have left doors open and stereo playing for hours and didn't run it down. Big difference from the everstart that came with the truck. With that batt it would crank slow in the winter and couldnt play the stereo with the motor off. |

Why not tell us your "experiences" with Optima? I'm curious as to why you think they're the "worst." I know a couple people with yellow tops and they perform great. Not everyone has 250-300 dollars to spend on a battery. |
Gold Member Username: Nd4spd18Philadelphia, PA Post Number: 9130 Registered: Jul-06 | For one thing, they don't have any more power than a regular car battery, just cost a little more..... the yellow tops have actually performed worse in some tests. For another I have known several people whose optimas were shot after a few years of heavy use and frequent deep cycling, which they claim to be able to handle..... apparently not. |

I beleive I'll be buying a new alt and bat soon. |
