I have a 150rms PG amp and a front set of 6.5 PG Components. I have 2 crossovers, one on each side.

The problem is, is that my tweeters that are mounted on the a pillars, just stopped playing last night. The 6.5 mids are still playing to what I think is normal and full power, but it does sound weird due to the lack of all highs.

The wiring is red speaker wire from the each amp channel to each crossover. At each crossover, green speaker wire splits to the mids, and yellow speaker wire splits to the tweeters. So since the mids are still playing im guessing it is a crossover problem for sure???

Maybe did the tweeter "channel" or "section" of the crossover blow, and one was already blown and I didnt know it? or how could the mids still be playing fine but not the tweeters? I dont know how they would both be out now. The music just sounds weird and hollow without the highs, hopefully the mids are fine....

The PG amp has no warning light on or anything, no fuse blown and lights up fine, still playing the mids. My sub amp and sub are still playing perfectly too, I dont see nething with the cd player...

Any help or reasonings would be great...thanks in advance.

hmm. nice to see ya still on the forums bro.

Sounds like something either with the tweeters themselves or either the tweeter channel on the crossover has something wrong with it.. is it both tweeters that just stopped playing?

Hook the mids to the tweeter output. No sound = blown high crossover section. Sound = blown tweeters.

I would bet that your passenger side went out a while back and you didn't even notice it because you really only really here the one on the drivers door unless you have the time aligned but it doesn't sound like you do. I would bet on blown tweets, but do what brad said to check that its not the high pass on the x-overs. In any case the tweets will be easier to replace then the x-overs anyways.

Umm, if you can't tell that one of your tweeters isn't playing you shouldn't be around car audio IMO.

no

And that part about you not hearing both tweeters unless they are time aligned is also not true.

I gotta agree with M.S. on this. Even if your component set it finely tuned with time alignment and other b.s.: if one of your tweeters goes out, it throws the whole sound off, and you will defiantly notice.

After that happened I actually do remember back now that my speakers started sounding slightly quieter overall. My components setup is not perfect, and i do have my tweeters on the a-pillars with sound reflecting off the windshield so that could change it too. I dont really think its that big of deal if I didnt notice my passenger side high already out, especially because it could have been like a week between the time they went out due to setting changes or whatever happened.

Another thing is I dont drive my car much at all...Additionally I am not obsesssed with my own sound system or how it sounds, I havent paid attention to it for quite sometime. I have WAYYY more important things to accomplish and to worry about. Sorry M.S. I dont meet your standards for a car audio enthusiast. The fact is, I could give a f*ck less IYO...its negative, annoying, and an almost ignorant post.

If you think I shouldnt be around car audio because I didnt hear my tweeter correctly, which I already have bad hearing, you are ignorant.

........
Thanks tho to th3pwn3r, james longo and brad
