I just moved and the cable guy came today. Well when he left, I turned on the TV and realized that the HD stretches to full screen but the standard def channels are all squared (have borders on the left and right side). Any idea how to make the standard def channels stretch as well? It was fine before I moved and I'm not sure what setting got screwed up.
I have been reading in this section for a while and Massey seems to be very much on top of his game.
the reason it strecthes to the whole screen is b/c the channel is sending your tv enough picture info to fill the extra pixels(720, 1080 whichever) and when it is a channel that is broadcast in a 4:3 ratio...the tv displays it in that respective ratio.
you can have the TV stretch the picture across the rest of the screen but doing so will distort the image and make it much sloppier looking.
