kris: There were rumours. But the general consensus is that even in Portugal which was the first country to have N3 does not give any evidence of having broken Nagra 3.
Nalin, why would a particular country have N3? Doesn't the satellite hit several? And why (I know for a fact) are new receivers being installed now without any smart cards?
Particular country: Usually when something new and significant comes out they have to try on a significant but finite sample. Portugal happened to be the first country in Europe they chose before implementing in all other countries, or to be precise, the Portugese channels were the first ones to be hit in Europe. Here in North America, they have chosen Bell first before DN. New receivers have a built in flash ROM for deciphering Nagra 3. I have heard of receivers where people have copied the whole deciphering mechanism by simply coping the hardware - illegal but it is being done. I wouldn't recommend it, because it is outright stealing
From nagra's behavior I think they added much more switchable mechanisms to make it very difficult to to get by like new time function trap switchers etc. This is Nagra*3 take four I really do think it will be the most difficult encryption algorithm in satellites to break
It won't be broken that easy Not in 2009 if at all And don't count on posting keys either I'm saying this once again Hackers will have to move on to a much easier target
It will be in a form of SD on Dave By inserting a hardware Module on an HD FTA receivers But Dave is aware of that day to come So he'll bounce SD channels on Ka satellites which is no FTA receiver capable of Ka at this time Or if hackers build another quick tuner capable of Ka on HD receivers then yo can have PTA once again Expect long long outage this time
Another easier target will be Canadian Star*Choice using DC-II on Sats 107W and 111W Perhaps along with Hits on Sats 101 and 105W on a 1.2 meter C-band dish No internationals
Many people claimed Nag*3 will be a piece-a-cake I always said don't under estimate nagra's team At least I didn't
No doubt This will be the darkest period of PTA history
Nalin Nyda I have heard of receivers where people have copied the whole deciphering mechanism by simply coping the hardware - illegal but it is being done. I wouldn't recommend it, because it is outright stealing
new one on me. What are the different types of Stealing?????
N3 was revised 3 more times since it's first release And often public posting is nothing but key postings
There will be N3 key postings I presume But Nagra changed their mechanism so posting keys will be irrelevant along with a lot more hardware alterations
At least that's what I expect from a team that wants to stay secure Any less they might of hired White Hawk as their project manager
it's as always when there is something coming lot of bs and talk and bla bla bla .the reality is no one knows what is gonna happen ,and how it will happen. this talk is just copy of the one we had when nagra 2 came to town.
of course somebody knows what's gonna happen...... people inside Charlie and Bev know darn well what and when it's gonna happen..... and of course there's always been "leaks" and "lost" of information....
Question is....Who's got it and what they'll be doing with it...?!
they arent installing any recievers without cards. They are g3 cards. i sent a defective cardless reciever in and got a carded reciever back. i read a tech sheet prolly like the one king gets from dn, it said to send the cardless recievers back. just what ive noticed.
