Saturday, October 25, 2008 - 04:32 GMT fat what would 8-4ga for me. obviously 12ga is not fat when compaired with other speaker wire. Ive never understood why as big of speaker wire as power wire isn't required when the power eventually makes its way to the sub.

Saturday, October 25, 2008 - 04:46 GMT Simple... the current going from the battery/alt to amplifier is DC. From the amp to speaker it's AC since that's how a speaker works. DC current needs a MUCH bigger wire than AC.

Sunday, October 26, 2008 - 17:29 GMT I use 2 runs of 4awg If you are running 1500-1200, the smallest wire I would recommend is 12gauge. Although, 8gauge never hurt anyone
