Saturday, September 06, 2008 - 00:16 GMT BTW that was an excellent intro for "Miles in the Sky" Patrick. One of these days were gonna have to get together and do some listening...we'll have Kevin and Neil join us for a jazz hoe down (is that how it's spelled)!

Saturday, September 06, 2008 - 02:19 GMT I just received my copy of Led Zeppelin's Mothership on vinyl. I've only been waiting for it for about a year now. How does a release date get pushed back that far? Its supposed to be horrendous outside tomorrow. I take that as a good day to spin some new vinyl. Anyone notice how much vinyl is available on Best Buy's website? Its all a few bucks cheaper than places like Music Direct and Acoustic sounds. And they've got a more extensive selection. Not sure about Jazz and the likes, but they've got a good deal of mainstream types of music on vinyl. Stryvn (and anyone else who digs Metallica) - Getting ready for Death Magnetic? I heard one or two tracks, and it sounds like Metallica is finally back to their old school roots. The same was said right before St. Anger came out though. But the two tracks I heard were pretty solid.

I keep looking at the Ride The Lightning, Kill Em All and Puppets albums on vinyl at Musicdirect though. Enjoy the rain (records) tomorrow....lol. We had that yesterday.

Thursday, September 11, 2008 - 21:08 GMT Hi Sem, Yes, I play ATD a lot... Not as much as Wodek, but a close second. LOL. I like the Pros and Cons and Clapton really helps it along, it just doesn't make the rotation like ATD or even Floyd's Final Cut which I really like. Beck's playing on ATD is great IMO. The raw emotion and the way Waters intertwines that emotion with music really works for me. I think ATD and The Final Cut really shine head and shoulders over Pros and Cons in that aspect.

Friday, September 12, 2008 - 03:29 GMT Charles Lloyd - The Water is Wide ...walked outside to enjoy the sunset and heard music....hmm that's an awful darn loud stereo...no that's live..and it's jazz! Walked down to where I saw an open garage door and lights on, just a few houses down the street and there it was, a live jazz big band practicing for a gig. Neighbor pulled into her drive next to where I was standing, she was returning home from work, and I asked "how long has this been goin' on"...she looked puzzled as if she was unsure whether I was going to complain so she replied "weekly, and we really like it. We have barbeque's and listen to the music". I said well I like it too...she looked relieved and we listened and talked about how much we love the love the neighborhood...ain't life grand...great night.

I'd thought I'd class-up my collection a bit, so I pick-up two boxed set from the Virgin Megastore, Billie Holiday: the Ultimate Collection (8 Original Albums/3 CDs) and The Luciano Pavarotti Signature Collection (3 CDs); each was $10. Billie goes well with scotch, I suppose Luciano will go well with a nice barolo over the weekend.

Saturday, September 13, 2008 - 01:02 GMT Curious? I've been eyeballing that Yaqin VK2100 since Tawaun starting talking it up a few days ago. I'm sorry, I don't think I want to trade them out for a tube amp, to the contrary, I've been thinking about pairing them up with that Yaqin amp. Don't you think the Lings might work well with it? PM me if you really want to arrange for a trial.
