How would I go about using my notebook PC as an MP3 jukebox? I have been asked to provide some music for a few private parties and would love to use the MP3 library I have created from all of my CDs and downloads. Do I need to buy an audio PCMCIA card for this? Is there a USB device that would help with interface to mixer/amp?

yes there is a device, however the mixer has to be equipped to accept them. Your best bet is to use a PCMCIA so it can interface with regular equuipment.

I have hooked my Notebook up to my stereo receiver using the headphone jack on the laptop and connecting the "red and whites" to the receiver. The sound however is a bit crap. It distorts, sounds muffled and is generally of low quatlity. Do I need some sort of pre-amp to boost the signal from the laptop?

Thanks

actually you need to find a lower level output than headphone jack outputs. The signal is too high for a receiver's inputs.
