Hello,

Can someone please help me here. I just brought a new cable USB to RS232 but it seems not to be working on my clone box. I also have the old cable RS232 but that as well doesn't work. Is there a cable RS232 that can work for my clone box.

Thanx you in advance,

Firoz

depends which make of clone box you are talking about,
some receivers use a straight rs232 cable whereas some use a null cable

When you say "clone receiver" it does not make sense.
Post the name of your receiver and what did you buy - a USB to serial convertor and a cable or just the convertor?

Pansat 2500/FLU take DB9 F/F straight RS232 cable, even though converted to 2700 workalike.

Pansat 2700 takes DB9 F/F null modem cable.

If you are not sure what cable you have and it does not work, the best thing to do is to buy a DB9 M/F null adaptor. With the adaptor in, you have one type of cable and with the adaptor out you have the other type.

USB to serial convertors are notorious for problems and for slowness.
Buy only the type with its own installation CD.
Do not allow windows XP to install it.
Manually install using CD

Select COM1, or COM2, or COM3 or COM 4 port.
Use device manager in your computer to check and select the right port.

When you say false info. are you talking about
FTA TV.
I do have one question for you.
How can you tell the difference?

BTW I have almost forgot to ask you ...how are you
coming along with your C band on EchoStar 3? have you pickup
any more. Last time I check your post you had 43 Channels on C-band.

Hey Nalin I am not sure if my Flu box takes stright cable or null. Whats an null cable and where can I buy that from? But yes I did brought the DB9 F/F RS232 cable, so I should try the null cable, so once again where can I buy that from?

Thanx

First you said "new cable USB to RS232". This one gives problems on XP or Vista and requires you install the driver on the CD that come with it. You would need to check the com port setting in your device manage and make sure you have Com 1 or Com 2 there.

Now you are saying "I did brought the DB9 F/F RS232 cable" This is a different cable from USB to RS232. You need a straight cable - not a null cable.

Try and answer all the questions asked so you can get help properly.
