hey guys im new here and im in the process of getting a Denali XL and i want to get some serious pound put in it. i been reading around on here for a couple days and i been hearing alot of talk about the BTL's and the HDC3's both sounds very tempting but i was thinking about getting six 15" hdc's or four 18" btls....and the amp that i was looking at were two AQ3500's because they look like a sh*t load of power for the price. im not looking to pay no more than $3000-$3500 max on subs and amps and i want it to sound like good hard hittin quality bass so what would be my best option...
OH and this just for daily beating..well mainly weekend
I wouldn't recommend those amps ever, they're ridiculously inefficient. Stay away from them at all costs. As mentioned, you'll need high output alternator or alternators and a few extra batteries in the back with multiple runs of 0 gauge wiring. To properly power a system that you're thinking about is going to cost you quite a bit of money in the charging system alone.
I'm happy with my BTL 18s. 6 15s would give you more cone area though, and with the size of your vehicle you should be able to do that below the window line.
I don't know how much you were looking at for the aq 3500s, but 3 of those on 6 BLs/btls or hdc3s would be nice.
Look to run dual h/o alts and many batteries if you're thinking of playing music on this for any real period of time. I would go with the most cone area you could fit though.
Actually did a xl with 6 15" alphas and 6 1750.1's It does mid 150's on music.
In about 2 weeks we will have a xl done with 4 18" alphas with flat winds and 4 3250's
I will let you know what one does better.
The 6 15" one was a hassle, had to build 2 boxes due to phase issues. Common chamber did not work well.
Ended up 3 chambers and 2 ports in each chamber, and still took alot of time to dial the amps in with the phase control. It ended up being a 2 week project.
looking at the AQs website "You must have an upgraded electrical system sufficient to provide the amperage required to handle the 300 amp fuse rating of the AQ3500D (600 amps for a pair) in order to satisfy this beast. "
you will need quite the beastly charging system...dual alts?? i would look into a more efficent amp
