Friend of mine who has this receiver says he can only format his USB to FAT32.

Gets an error anytime EXT2 format is chosen on the 360 Elite.

Can EXT2 file be read on a PC running Windows XP?

i think ur rec must have option to format the usb.. my kbox has option under usb.. are u trying to load the file using usb, or reformatting them,
the other thing u can try it leave the usb plugged in and do a factory reset and try again to record the stuff/ load the bin with ur usb.. this should work.

Thanks sada. The rec has an option to format in FAT32 or EXT2.

It formats fine if FAT32 is chosen, but get an error message saying formatting failed if EXT2 is chosen. Not sure if it was common problem or isolated one?

Thanks Sada
No problem with USB,using the small USB thumb drive as far as updating and recording (creates files) - all with FAT32.

Only problem is formatting a new USB drive in EXT2 format, the rec just refuses to do EXT2 formatting and gives an error message.

An EXT2 partition is required by the LINUX operating system. And the SV360 runs LINUX by the way.

Windows (Microsoft) does not know what to do with an EXT2 partition. Actually they know what to do but won't do it since LINUX is competition.

If your friend wants to let his USB memory stick be universal, he better let it in FAT32 format.

If you want to format the USB memory stick to EXT2 format using your PC, here is a freeware utility

http://sourceforge.net/projects/ext2fsd

Thanks The Outer Limits

Do not understand why there should be a problem in trying to format a new USB drive in EXT2 format on the SV360 Elite. It is an USB 2.0 drive
