whiteusmc75 | OK, can someone PLEASE help me understand this, WHAT THE HECK IS THE BUTTKICKER????? And how does it work, what does it do???? I think Im goin crazy tryin to figure it out |
whiteusmc75 | Alright, Ive looked into it a little more..How does that little thing handle over 1000 watts?? And do you hook them up as you would a pair of surround front speakers??? Would it be like the same effect |
Derek | Buttkickers are simply voicecoils that you attach to your chair (or a platform your chair is on) to give you mechanical "feel" to explosions and very deep bass in movies. See http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/volume_10_3/buttkicker-bka-1000-amplifier-9-2003.html and http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/volume_7_1/buttkicker-2-2000.html and http://www.thebuttkicker.com/ Hope this helps. |
G-Man | I can't imagine why anyone would want one---unless you have a case of haemorhoids :-) |
timn8ter | Aura makes the BassShaker and BassShaker Pro. If you've never experienced properly installed units in a home theater you may not understand why. I have six of them installed in my La-Z-Boy and theater seats. I use the sub out from my HT receiver to a separate amp under the couch. The input is attenuated with a 50 Hz FMOD so the only shaking is the low frequency effects. They are great! BassShakers are available from http://www.partsexpress.com |
whiteusmc75 | Hmmmmm, so its like a subwoofer since it makes you "feel" the sound right??? |
timn8ter | Imagine a subwoofer with the cone and basket removed, then placed into a metal enclosure with cork on one side. You attach the corked side to the frame or seat and feed it the same low frequency signal going to your subs. I have my sub out split three ways, two to subs and one to the amp driving the bassshakers. I chose a 50 Hz cutoff to prevent the bassshakers from becoming buttbuzzers. |
