its either 2 18 hdc3
or! 4 15 hdc2.5

i know the 15s would be better BUT!
I have to have the front of the box/wall to fit 4 15s and the port.

the front is 34 by 39 and that is not on the inside. i have to consider the 3/4 mdf on each side.

i have almost 40 inches i can use for this so it will be 34x39x(40 inches or less)

what i am asking is can i get 4 15s and the port in this wall and still have it tuned close to 40 Hz?

the hdc2.5 are 15s.
i am making my box right now. i cant get subwoofer tools to work so ill post pics and see if u guys can figure out what its tuned too.

so i am guessing 4 hdc2.5 15s would be better than a pair of hdc3 18s?

YA! my bad! well i just made this in sketch up... it took me about 2 hours to make and i couldn't get the place for the subs to go away. hahaha. i can give u the specs. i need to know what it is tuned to. from what i have built i think it looks good but i know many people on this set have done a lot more building so if u have any ideas on this build let me know!
i am looking for 40 Hz. its a wall... idk what else u need to know.

http://www.putfile.com/pic/8412372
http://www.putfile.com/pic/8412370
http://www.putfile.com/pic/8412371

the port is 32.5 inches by 9 inches. that is not counting the middle part that is 3/4 (mdf)

the front is 34inch tall and 39 inches wide.

its 40 inches deep.
the port walls are 27inches not counting the 3/4 from the front sheet(the ones the subs fit in)

there is 4 2/4s
so 4 pieces that is 1.5 by 3.5 and 13.5 inches long.

then the sub displacment... which idk what it is..

ill have through in like .1cuft because i have to make a few things on the bottom to fit over the place the seats hooked on before.

if some one could please tell me what this is tuned to i would be very happy.

and all u building pros give me some tips. i have build like 5 boxes and i think i am good... maybe i am a pro.. but prolly not. haha.

"the front is 34inch tall and 39 inches wide.

its 40 inches deep."

if thats 32.5 x 37.5 x 38.5 you have 26.52 cubic feet gross after subtracting the center divider

"the port is 32.5 inches by 9 inches. that is not counting the middle part that is 3/4 (mdf)"

"the port walls are 27inches"

if your port takes up 31.75 x 9 x 27 deep your port displacement is 4.46 cubic feet that leaves 22.06 cubic feet gross minus .74 cubic feet for the port walls gives you 21.32 cubic feet gross minus approximately .40 sub displacement for all four subs gives you 20.92 cubic feet net with a port tune of 28.5 hz

so i got 26.44856 volume with the braces and everything but the subs.
so it will prolly be around 26 with the subs in.
and i got 4.4648437 port volume

that is with both ports top and bottom.
opening is 15.875 by 9
and 15.875 by 9

so sean... ur pretty much the man...
i would really like to know what u used to find what its tuned toO!

i can't make the port have a bigger opening so is it posible for me to get it tund to 40Hz?

i would like to start on this build tomo.. so i need help pretty fast.

yw....I used my brain power a calculator on my computer and simple math and broke it down to find the cubic feet taken up....you measure w x h x d divided by 1728 the number of cubic inches in a cubic foot and then I used this port calculator and punched in a tuning frequency until I hit the length of your port

http://www.carstereo.com/help/Articles.cfm?id=31

to raise the port tune your going to need the port length to be shorter but in the process your going to gain space in the enclosure and that will lower the port length needed for a desired port tune as well

make sure you select square for port type and yes for slot port using the slot port calculator and put in your net airspace (after subs and port) for the enclosure volume

at 20.92 cubic feet your at 5.23 cubic feet per sub which is too much for these subs already

three 18"? but you wont be able to get hdc3 since they don't have them nor have had them for like a year.
on my guys wanted the 18" but had to go fifteens.
Thought about like six fifteens or nine twelves?

I can help you design a box for your ride. Why are you going to use such a big port?

You may not be able to control you speakers when it hits the low lows with that big of a port.

wow! DJ! I didn't know u were on this forum. i am pretty sure i talked to u today and yesterday... and the day before.

i don't have the cash for 4 hdc3....
looks like ill go with 4 sdc2.5 15s...
to bad they don't have sdc2.5 18s.. i would be all over that!

i am going to email this to audioque... i think DJ is the guy that will look at it... and then deside if with the room i have 4 15 sdc2.5s will be better than 2 hdc3 18s..
i have the room for 15s. i can figure what it is tuned to i guess. i have no looked at that link yet. but ill look now.

i will prolly need help because after i make something in sketchup i can't change it because i suck at sketch up. so iwould have to remake a whole new thing. so if any one wants to help me in this design please do!
