When I upgrade my subs would it better to stick to 2, or is 1 good one enough. One thing I like about having 2 is that the bass is truly non-directional. |

Two subs in dissimilar locations in the room drive the room more completely with fewer room issues being excited. However, bass is essentially omni-directional with any speaker. If "bass" becomes directional, you are running the crossover too high and you are hearing lower midrange intruding through the crossover. In that case, change the crossover point or the filter order of the crossover itself. . |

Remember the rolloff of the units, and cheap ones roll off a lot more slowly on the upper range. A new sub(or 2) will have 4th order crossovers, which will limit the upper rolloff's, which can be a full octave or more in cheap subs. Ant sub with 4th or higher XO's are the ones that you seek. Now sealed or ported... |

I like the idea of having the bass "anchored" to each channel when doing 2 channel, hence the dual subs question. My cheap subs don't help, but that will soon be fixed. |
