I got a pair of these 6x9s for my car. I have a brand new pioneer head unit but i didnt have any speakers in the rear. the factory door speakers are decent,i just needed something for the back. love the infinity quality so I went with them. Im a noob w/ car audio so im coming here. One opinion already said i would definitely need an amp to power them. Now id like yall's help.. If i get an amp, how many watts? what do you recommend? thanks!
Considering they're rear speakers, you don't necessarily need an amp. An amp will improve the sound from any speaker though. What it comes down to is whether or not you want to spend the money on one. If it were me, I wouldn't simply because they're rear speakers. If they were front speakers though, I absolutely would.
Those 6x9" Kappa's are 110w RMS. You'll need an amp that does that much power at ***2 ohms*** not 4 ohms like most speakers. So any amp that does 55w RMS at 4 ohms should be fine for you. Just check the 2 ohm rating on that amp to be sure. If you need any help, let me know. Be sure to mention a budget.
