DIY Enclosure Advice

This is the first time I will be making my own enclosure, and wanted to put my two 15' Alpine Type-R's in a vented box, but as I have been asking around, many are saying this will be a lot more complicated than I had expected since this is my first time. Would it be worth the money to have a vented enclosure custom made, or try to make my own vented enclosure, or to make a sealed enclosure?
Also, what are the pros / cons to each box setup?

Ported box would yield higher output compared to a sealed box. If its well made, it can even have relatively the same sq of a sealed box.

Making one yourself isn't hard at all if you have the plans.

Having one built for you will probably end up being around $150 give or take a couple bucks.

if you can build it yourself then do it. just take your time and have patience. and even if you mess up, you could always rebuild one and still be under what the cost of one would be shipped.

and for the type rs' i'd definately port them, around 32-35hz.

if you can't build it then i'd highly recommend buying from either phil (woodlawncabinetry) or bj (fishercustoms).

Go ahead and build it yourself man. It is always a good leaning experience. If you need some box plans, just ask. I'm sure I or many other forum members could design you one.

I think I would like to go that route Nick, would it be too much to ask for plans? If not, what sort of information would you need?

Max dimensions he can work with, tuning preference, box volume wanted, sub being used, might ask for the car.....don't wanna speak for Nick but those are pretty much the basics he would need.
