New member Username: B0vinePost Number: 1 Registered: Apr-08 | Ya I actually have sort of the same question as the original poster. I need 2 8's but I'm all about sound quality. I ran a jl 12w6v2 (sealed enclosure) on some older a/b amp that was my fav. Now I'm just trying to toss a little money into my del sol's system to extract some sort of bass/ good midbass response. The subs will be right behind the seats (basically a jl stealthbox- may be one but who knows- it is ported but I'm not opposed to plugging them as I'm not sure on the volume, but I figure I believe I have more room for error in volume with sealed yes? and thats an easy switch) In any case. I need two 8's. I have seen a number of posts recommending the eD's, RE's, CDT's, Arc Audio and I think a set of Infinity's was mentioned in one. I'm all about purchasing good used stuff on ebay, so I'm up for a good deal there. I have noticed that most people don't mention JL on a lot of the posts, but would a pair of the old 8w6s be a bad pair to pickup? I had won a set of 8w3v2s for 21, but the dude managed to damage them getting them out of the box to sell them... genius.. Oh I will be running this off an alpine mrd-m501 I had laying around, and I'm pretty positive that anything over a 5" mounting depth won't work (I will check when I get a chance). Thoughts? |

New member Username: B0vinePost Number: 2 Registered: Apr-08 | So like what 100-130 for the RE's. That the best we can do on SQ (though I guess SQ really is pretty subjective isn't it?)? I really don't care much for loud in the car, just enough to cover road noise and I want a good balance... I do want it to have a relatively flat response, I will say that. Any other suggestions/comments? |

New member Username: B0vinePost Number: 3 Registered: Apr-08 | Any votes for squeezing in a 9kv.2 or adding on a lip and using the 7kv.2? Still wouldn't mind a response regarding the w6... Paul which eD's you have? Should I assume that means you are selling them?? |
Gold Member Username: MgbcsLincoln, Nebraska Post Number: 2394 Registered: Dec-06 | If you want a quality 8" woofer that sounds great and get loud, buy two Soundsplinter RL-i and call it a day. You will not be disappointed! |
New member Username: B0vinePost Number: 4 Registered: Apr-08 | With a nearly 6" mounting depth, it won't work for my application... and technically I wouldn't be giving them much more than minimum RMS with my alpine amp... |
Gold Member Username: Tatonka-[Team Audib... Post Number: 1607 Registered: Mar-07 | Wolfman's RE 8s sounded damn good in his car off of ~150rms a piece. |
Diamond Member Username: BestmankindLos Angeles, CA USA Post Number: 20245 Registered: Oct-05 | paul i forgot but were those 8s single 4ohm or single 2ohm? i might pick up 2 more to have some fun with it. |

Gold Member Username: Denali_on_22sI get Bucks like Milwa... Post Number: 5356 Registered: Feb-06 | i would assume older 8"W6s wouldn't be that great. my friend had an old 15 W6 and it didn't sound that great at all. i would go with REs i suppose. |
New member Username: B0vinePost Number: 5 Registered: Apr-08 | Hm, actually I looked at the manual, and I will need 3 w6's for wiring them correctly, so thats out.. So everyone thinks the RE8 (anywhere to get them less than 130 shipped?) will be my best bet? Any more votes? |

New member Username: B0vinePost Number: 7 Registered: Apr-08 | Well, thats my goal is total sq and balance to some 4x infinity 6.5's running of the HU (don't really wanna spend the money/weight/power drain to do it all right). CDT EF-8? Or I guess I could pick up a cheap set of Infinity REF850w's? Any comments on the latter two? |
Silver Member Username: M0nkeyman692Post Number: 545 Registered: Feb-07 | hahahha sooorryy paul lol trust me im workin on it. im planning on sending a money order on monday if thats still cool with you. |

Platinum Member Username: WingmanaliveA pic is worth 1000 posts!! Post Number: 16013 Registered: Jun-06 | Timmy. I have the 4 stated that are for Monkeyman but I do still have 2 others that don't come with original packing. I took them out to play with them and test them out. Assuming that the monkey dude (lol) takes the 4 are you interested in the other two "used"? |
New member Username: B0vinePost Number: 8 Registered: Apr-08 | I would likewise be curious shipped to 65201 Paul... so I guess me and Timmy can duke it out.. .. which model are they exactly..and you said SVC 4... and do you paypal or is it all about the MO |
New member Username: B0vinePost Number: 9 Registered: Apr-08 | By the way I tossed you a PM earlier Paul...In any case, IDMax vs. CDT vs. eD- No one have any opinion those? |
Platinum Member Username: WingmanaliveA pic is worth 1000 posts!! Post Number: 16015 Registered: Jun-06 | Here they are: http://www.edesignaudio.com/product_info.php?cPath=92&products_id=448 4ohm version. Of course Paypal is quicker but more expensive. Here's the tower of them all lol. Shipping depends on how many you want. I only have two used outside of Monkeyman's order. |
Platinum Member Username: WingmanaliveA pic is worth 1000 posts!! Post Number: 16016 Registered: Jun-06 | I believe I replied to your PM M.Bovine. |
New member Username: B0vinePost Number: 10 Registered: Apr-08 | hey guess I'm an incompetent newb on this site.. How do I check 'em. You can recieve instant transfers via paypal for free I believe... oh wait, thats prob just using ebay isnt it? My bad, Hm, not sure if those will do or not.. In any case, I can't imagine shipping being more than say 20 on a pair? what are you wanting for a pair shipped and lets just say paypal cause I'm lazy so that like an extra 3% or whatever they charge? |
Platinum Member Username: WingmanaliveA pic is worth 1000 posts!! Post Number: 16020 Registered: Jun-06 | Two used(slightly) ED 8" subs to that zip would be $30. That is all. |
Bronze Member Username: B0vinePost Number: 11 Registered: Apr-08 | Not sure I can stomach the variation in frequency.. I was hoping for something a little.. scratch that.. lot flatter :/... but I'll keep you in mind when I have an extra 30 to screw around with. But ya, How do I access PM's here? and anyone have any suggestions on those other three ~150 a pair shipped.. CDT ef, eD 9.k, IDmax? |
